Microsoft had officially unveiled the Lumia 550 at the launch event of Windows 10 devices that was held in early October. Since the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL took the center stage that night, there wasn’t much information mentioned about the entry-level device. As we said earlier this is the most affordable 4G LTE smartphone ever launched by Microsoft.
While the company had announced that the device will be available from December, UK-based retailer, Carphone Warehouse has already listed the device on their website and are also accepting the pre-orders. It is priced at £90 (approx $137 / Rs. 9,000) off-contract and there many options available starting from £9.50. The device will be shipped in White color, but the listing shows the device comes in both White and Black colors.
It comes in a polycarbonate shell with a 4.7-inch HD display on the front. The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 210 quad-core processor along with 1GB of RAM. It also has 8GB of internal storage along with a MicroSD card slot. It runs on the latest Windows 10 out-of-the-box, which is far better improved than the current Windows 8.1 OS and also highly optimized to give lag free experience on the devices with lower specifications.
The device has a 5MP rear camera with LED flash, a 2MP front-facing camera, and a 2,100mAh battery. It is expected to comes with Single SIM and Dual SIM variants in selected markets like India and China. Recently there are rumors that Lumia 650 will be next Lumia to launch and will also be the last 5-inch Lumia device ever to launch.
It is also rumored to sport a few similar specifications like Snapdragon 210 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage. The improvements can be found in the camera and the battery department. Since the company hasn’t mentioned anything about the launch of Lumia 650, take this with a pinch of salt until we there is an official confirmation.
