Micromax Vdeo 1 4G VoLTE Smartphone Launched with Jio SIM & Pre-loaded Google Duo

In September this year, Micromax announced that they would launch four smartphones under the Vdeo series with pre-installed Google Duo video calling app. While the Micromax Vdeo 4 with high-end specifications is leaked to launch soon, that never happened till date. We now have information that the company has officially launched its first smartphone in the Vdeo series called as Micromax Vdeo 1 in the offline market. It is priced at just Rs. 4,440 and will be available in stock later this week. At this price, the device comes with a metal back cover and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.

As announced earlier, the Vdeo 1 comes pre-loaded with Google’s recently launched video calling app, Google Duo. Talking about the specifications, the Vdeo 1 comes with a smaller 4-inch display with WVGA (850 x 480 pixels) resolution and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass laid on top. Under the hood is an unknown quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. There is also a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion upto 128GB. On the camera front, there is a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP selfie camera.

The Video 1 is dual SIM dual standby device and supports 4G VoLTE out of the box. Micromax also partnered with Reliance Jio to offer free Jio 4G SIM including unlimited 4G data, voice calls, SMS for free till March 31st, 2017. It is backed by a 1,600mAh battery that can give at least give a day-long battery life. Connectivity options include 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. While the device will be sold through offline stores, as of now, there is no information about the availability of this device through the online stores.

This device lineup from Micromax is a different kind of product lineup for the first-time internet users who are probably accessing the Internet through the Reliance Jio 4G services and the budget-oriented devices could help them make video calls on the go. In fact, the device names itself depict that they are Video specific phones & the users would get a Jio SIM Card that’s anyway available for free in the market. In terms of the specifications and also the price point the main competitor at this price is LYF Smartphones that have literally seen a huge drop in sales post the Jio SIM Cards open availability.
