The MetaWatch Frame is just another smartwatch with the same functionality which many other smart watches provide. The combination of stainless steel and the leather strap comes in the black and white plain colors. The 3ATM water resistant smartwatch surely has quite a lot to say, starting from the Dual-Mode connection with the iPhone and Android smartphone.
As for the functions, here’s in short what MetaWatch Frame does – check messages, see who’s calling, control music, view weather and much more. The connectivity with the Android smartphones and the iPhone isn’t hard at all, though Android is still easier comparatively.
The app in the iPhone and Android is easy to understand, and the user can make quite a lot of changes to the clock face where you can configure how the grid spaces can be used on each of the separate home screens and the sizes would be like 2×1 clock, 1×1 clock, 1×1 weather or 2×1 for the same, and so on. Even better, you can check for the battery status of the iPhone / Android phone directly from the watch, and there’s a lot more shown – Stock report, Notifications about meetings etc.
The full screen clock face has the digital clock with the date to make it feel like what a normal watch is, and the inner screen with the multiple widgets is what would make it smarter. But there’s no alternative to that full screen face, and you have to get adjusted to it, even if you didn’t like it. This is where the Sony’s smartwatch and Pebble are better, with a few options for the full screen clock face.
The vibrating notifications is a plus, and you don’t need to always take the phone out of the pocket because the MetaWatch Frame does the job for you with the vibration letting you know about something new, and then you could check that in the watch itself. That’s what you would buy this smartwatch for, right? This all isn’t any less important stuff – meeting alerts, incoming text messages, Caller ID, and emails.
The sensors included are 3-axis MEMS accelerometer and Ambient light sensor, and the connectivity with the smartphone is through the Bluetooth 4.0. The watch has the dedicated buttons for light, music, status / version, Universal back button, last call and message log, Menu button.
Not perfect and not the best there, but yes, MetaWatch Frame could be one simple choice when you don’t need a lot and are happy with a neatly framed smartwatch having a good leather strap, with the smart features that don’t need a lot of headache for you to set them up. For the pricing, it is priced at $229.99 for the Frame Black and Frame White MetaWatch.
