Meizu Zero is the world’s first holeless smartphone with no buttons or ports visible anywhere on it. Although you might find a small hole for microphone and a pinhole to hard reset the device if required. Although the device is on Indiegogo, it will not be available for everyone to buy as it is on pre-order for $1,299. The page has 100 devices listed which will be going for pre-order and these are labeled as “exclusive engineer unit.”
There is also one exclusive pioneering unit which has already been claimed for $2,999 and it is expected to be shipped in the next five days. The goal for the crowdfunding is $100,000 and a representative from Meizu said that there is no indication on the addition of more than 100 phones as of now. The Meizu Zero’s campaign is already live on the website.
Once the company reaches the funding target of $100,100 it will bring the project into reality and people pledge money to it and after reaching the target, Meizu will start manufacturing its Zero and those who have pledge above a certain threshold will be receiving the unit. It will be interesting to see, by when will the device reach the target set by the company.
The smartphone will be coming with a 5.99-inch 1080 x 2340 pixels resolutions on its AMOLED screen. Under the hood, it will be powered with a Snapdragon 845 SoC accompanied with 4GB of RAM. On the camera front, there will be a 12MP + 20MP camera set up on the rear while on the front we can find a 20MP selfie shooter. It will also come with pressure sensitive buttons on the sides and will be charged only wirelessly as there are no ports.
Furthermore, Meizu has also developed a fast 18W solution for charging, and there will not be a single SIM slot and the handset will be using an eSIM instead. What are your thoughts on this device?
