Meizu M5 Smartphone with 5.2″ HD Display & 13MP Camera Launched in India

As we had reported earlier, Meizu has now launched the new Meizu M5 smartphone in India. If in case you missed it earlier, this smartphone was launched in China back in the month of October last year and now it has been launched here in the country at a price of 10,499 INR, which means that it costs more than the Chinese variant which was launched at 700 CNY. The smartphone in India will be officially sold exclusively on Tatacliq.com in India.
In terms of the specs, we are looking at a 5.2″ HD display on the front with a 2.5D curved glass on top of it. It is powered by an octa-core processor and it also has Mali-T860 GPU. In India, we will be getting only the 3GB RAM variant along with 32GB of internal storage. It also has a 3,070 mAh battery and it comes with 13MP and 5MP rear and front facing cameras respectively. Earlier: The Meizu M5 is the latest affordable smartphone from the Chinese brand, Meizu. The device was first launched in its home country at the end of October 2016. Now the latest report suggests the device be made available in the Indian smartphone market. The Meizu M3S and the M3 Note are last devices to be launched by the company in India. Though the company occasionally launches its products here in India, most of the times they are listed as ‘out of stock’ due to the lack of inventory. Apart from China, the Meizu M5 is also mentioned to be launched in Italy and Russia. While there is no information about the exact launch date, the launch event is said to take place in the next few weeks.
It sports a pretty good build quality and packs decent specifications for its affordable price tag. In China, the 2GB RAM variant costs just 699 Yuan (approx $100 / Rs. 6,800) while the 3GB RAM variant is priced at 899 Yuan (approx $130 / Rs. 8,800). The device comes with a plastic built unibody design. It sports a 5.2-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution and offers a pixel density of 282 ppi. Under the hood, it comes powered by MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and coupled with Mali-T860 GPU. The device launched in China came in two variant – 2GB RAM + 16GB of storage and 3GB RAM + 32GB of storage.
The 13MP rear camera on the Meizu M5 comes with LED flash, PDAF, f/2.2 aperture, and 5P lens. On the front is a 5MP camera with f/2.0 aperture for capturing selfies and video calls. The mBack home button on the front also comes embedded with the fingerprint sensor. There are no other navigation buttons as the mBack home button come with gesture support for different actions. It also includes a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion additionally upto 128GB.It supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G VoLTE which makes the device usable with Jio 4G SIM. The Meizu M5 is backed by a 3,070mAh non-removable battery which can give up to 66 hours of music playback.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS, A-GPS, 3.5mm Audio port, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. The device measures 147.2 x 72.8 x 8 mm and weighs about 138 grams. In China, the device is available in White, Gold, Blue, and Mint color options. We can expect the base variant of the device with 2GB RAM can be priced around Rs. 7,000.
