Apart from the major Chinese brands like Huawei, OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Lenovo; there are hundreds of little-known brands from China. A few of those smaller brands like Ulefone and UMI launches decent smartphones at very cheap prices. Now in 2017, A Shenzhen-based OEM named, YOP Company has launched its own smartphone brand called Maze Mobiles. The Maze Blade is the company’s first smartphone priced at just $130. Though its first smartphone is made to be a budget-centric device, the company has already started working its second smartphone called Maze Alpha.
Unlike the Maze Blade, the Alpha looks like a premium device and comes with the three-sided bezel-less display as seen on the Xiaomi Mi MIX. As of now, the company has revealed few specifications of the device along with a couple of teaser images. It sports a 6-inch AMOLED display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution and comes protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The company is calling this display as Alpha Full Vision display. It seems the company is inspired by the Full Vision display on the LG G6. There is also a physical home beneath the display with the integrated fingerprint sensor.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX came with a 6.4-inch display with 17:9 aspect ratio and there is no protection on the top. It might come powered by an octa-core processor, and we expect to see a Snapdragon processor more than a MediaTek processor. The Maze Alpha will be available in two variants – 4GB RAM + 64GB storage & 6GB RAM + 128GB storage. There is no information about the availability of the MicroSD card for storage expansion. Talking about the cameras, the teaser images already revealed the device to feature dual camera setup on the rear.
The front facing camera is placed on the bottom edge of the display. One of the two cameras on the rear will feature a 13MP Sony sensor, but the company hasn’t mentioned the other sensor. The Maze Alpha runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and might come with almost stock Android UI as seen on the smartphones from the lesser-known Chinese brands. With all these powerful specifications, the device will be kept powered on by a 4000mAh non-removable battery. The company hasn’t mentioned any other information about the device.
At the MWC 2017, Ulefone also showcased the similar looking smartphone called Ulefone F1. This device also sports dual camera setup on the rear and comes powered by MediaTek Helio P25 octa-core processor. The Ulefone F1 is yet to go on sale even a month after it’s launch at the MWC event and there is no update from the company over the device. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details about these bezel-less smartphones.
