Now that Samsung has launched the Galaxy S8 smartphones, everyone is waiting on Apple to take the wraps off the new iPhones. While we are nowhere close to the launch of the new iPhones, we already have a lot of rumors and leaks to feast our eyes with. We already know that we will be seeing three new models this year including a special edition iPhone 8. This special edition iPhone 8 is expected to be launched to mark the 10 year anniversary of the iPhones. And it certainly looks like we will be seeing some major design overhaul this time around for this device.

According to the new reports which we have, it looks like Apple is thinking to bring some serious design changes for the special edition iPhone 8. This as of now is the first ‘real’ leak of the iPhone 8 and it shows some technical schematics. This image which was posted on Weibo claims to be showing some technical drawings straight from doors at Foxconn. As you can see from the drawings, we have our first look at the front, back as well as the sides of the device. On the front, we can see the minimal bezel design. The bezels are definitely there but not as much as you would typically see on Apple smartphones.

Taking a look at the back of the device, we have a lot of changes. Frist of all, the camera sensors as well as the flash are stacked vertically in the top-left corner. This is a huge change from the last year’s design but it does confirm that we will have a dual rear camera setup again. Another interesting thing to note at the back is that there is also a space for the fingerprint scanner just below the Apple logo. The placement seems to be centered so that we can reach to it easily. This is far better than the one at the top of the Galaxy S8.

The image is also labeled with dimensions for the chassis and interestingly they are comparable to the 4.7-inch iPhone 7, despite the huge display size. At the side, there is a table as well and according to the source, the one of the left are the dimension of the iPhone 7s Plus and the one on the right are of the iPhone 8. It means that it is measured at 149 mm tall, 72.5 mm wide and 7.1 mm thin. So we will pretty much the same thickness with a slightly taller body. Also, these are just drawings for the iPhone 8’s Engineering Validation Test (EVT) third revision.

EVT is still an early stage in the company’s product development cycle and there’s still a long way until it gets finalized. Having said that, we would like to know what do you think about this? Do you like this design for the new iPhone 8 or not? Be sure to let us know what do you think about this and also stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more info on this.
