‘Made in India’ Gionee A1 Smartphone to Launch Soon in India at Rs 21,999

Update: According to our source, we have been exclusively told that the Gionee A1 Smartphone will be launched in India at a price of Rs 21,999 & will be assembled in India under the “Make in India” Tag.
At the Mobile World Congress, Gionee unveiled the camera-centric A-series by launching the Gionee A1 and A1 Plus smartphones. Now, Gionee India confirmed to launch the Gionee A1 soon in the Indian market. Globally, the device is priced at EUR 349 (approx $370 / Rs. 24,500), and the Indian pricing will be known on the launch day. Unlike many other Chinese smartphone brands, Gionee is more focused on the offline Indian market. Another Chinese brand, OPPO will be launching the OPPO F3 and F3 Plus smartphones. The OPPO F3 Plus sports dual front cameras and will be in direct competition to Vivo V5 Plus that comes with 20MP and 8MP dual front cameras.
The company will be assembling the Gionee A1 in India under the “Make in India” campaign. Gionee will be offering two years of manufacturers warranty along with six months of accidental claim insurance. Talking about the Gionee A1, it sports an all metal body with rounded edges. On the front is a 5.5-inch IPS display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. While the device is expected to come with a price tag of almost Rs. 25,000, it packs the MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor which was first announced in 2015. There is 4GB of RAM which will be good enough even for heavy usage and might offer lag-free experience while split-screen multitasking.
The device has 64GB fo onboard storage that can be further expanded additionally up to 128GB. The Gionee A1 is backed by a 4,010mAh battery that might easily give a day-long battery life and also supports fast charging with the built-in dual charging chips. Talking about the cameras, there is a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 16MP selfie camera with the same f/2.0 aperture. Both the cameras are accompanied by LED flash or capturing better photos and videos even in low light conditions. On the Gionee A1 Plus, there is a dual camera setup sporting 13MP and 5MP sensors, while the front camera comes with a 20MP sensor.
The physical home button present on the front also comes integrated with a fingerprint sensor. One innovative feature on this device is the integration of the IR blaster and the LED flash on the rear; normally we will be seeing the IR blaster on the top edge of the smartphones. It will be company’s first ever smartphone to run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat. However, the in-house Amigo UI laid on top will offer an entirely different experience.
