LYF Wind 7i Smartphone with 5″ HD IPS Display & 8MP Camera Launched at Rs. 4,999

The Indian smartphone brand, LYF has launched its latest affordable smartphone called LYF Wind 7i. It was listed on the company’s official website with complete specifications and is priced at Rs. 4,999. The device comes with a polycarbonate shell and from the design perspective, it looks same as the earlier launched Flame 8 smartphone but comes with a slightly bigger display with better resolution and also a bigger battery. Apart from these, rest of the specifications remains same on both the devices. While the Wind 7i costs Rs. 4,999, the Flame 8 is already available in the market for Rs. 4,199. It sports a 5-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution and Dragontrail glass laid on top for protection. On the other hand, the Flame 8 comes with a 4.5-inch display with FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, the Wind 7i is powered by 32-bit Snapdragon 210 MSM8909 quad-core processor overclocked at 1.3GHz and coupled with Adreno 304 GPU. The Flame 8 also comes with the same processor but is clocked at just 1.1GHz. There is 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage on both the devices. The users can even expand the storage upto 128GB using the MicroSD card slot.
On the camera front, there is an 8MP autofocus rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP fixed focus front camera. The Wind 7i is backed by a 2,250mAh removable Lithium-ion battery and is rated to deliver 9 hours of talk time and lasts upto 180 hours on standby mode. For comparison, the Flame 8 came with a 2,000mAh battery. It supports dual SIM dual standby with 4G VoLTE support. The Wind 7i runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS. The device measures 143.5 x 72 x 8.7 mm and weighs 156 grams. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, USB OTG, GPS, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. Just like the other LYF smartphones, the Wind 7i also comes with two years of manufacturers warranty. It will be available in Black and Blue color options. As of now, the user can also get a free Jio 4G SIM with Jio Welcome Offer that includes unlimited usage of 4G data, voice calls, and SMS free till the year end. While the Jio suite of apps including Jio Music, Jio TV, Jio Cinema, and Jio Mags will be free for all Jio users until the end of 2017. There are few rumors that Jio will be extending the Jio Welcome Offer until March 2017, but there is no official confirmation over this yet.
While the smartphone serves only to the half of the India’s more than one billion population, Jio will soon launch Android-powered 4G featured phones priced at Rs.999 to capture even more market share. Unlike the feature phones that are now available in the market, these upcoming devices will support 4G VoLTE. Based on the rumors, Jio will be offering unlimited voice and video calls for a limited time.
