LYF Earth 2 Smartphone with Retina Scan & Fingerprint Scanner Launched in India

Reliance’s 4G smartphone brand LYF launched some decent entry-level smartphones that offer 4G LTE along with VoLTE. The Flame and Wind series have been popular for its affordable price tags, while the Earth is the flagship series for the LYF brands. Till date, the company has launched only one smartphone under this series called LYF Earth 1. It is priced at Rs. 23,999 and was launched in January this year, but now it is retailing at Rs. 19,499. Today the company has launched its successor, LYF Earth 2 priced at Rs. 19,999. It is rebranded version of ZTE Blade S7 that was launched in 2015. As seen with the earlier launched LYF smartphone, the Earth 2 also runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and there is no information about the Marshmallow update. It sports a 5-inch IPS display with Full HD resolution and is powered by Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz.

On the camera front, it has the same 13MP sensor on the front and back of the Earth 2. The rear camera is accompanied by dual tone LED flash and a laser auto focus. On the front, it comes with Phase Detection Auto Focus, an LED flash, and a Panorama mode for wider selfies. It is backed by a 2,500 mAh non-removable battery.

The device comes with a physical home button that also includes a fingerprint sensor. To make the device even more secure, the company is also offering retina scan to unlock option. The IRIS scanner on the front camera scans the retina to unlock the device. The upcoming Galaxy Note 7 and Note 7 Edge are also rumored to feature the same IRIS scanner. It is available across all the Reliance Digital stores and the company is also offering a free Jio 4G SIM.
