Earlier this year, Samsung introduced the all-new Galaxy M by launching the affordable Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M30 smartphones. The company has sold more than 2 million Galaxy M smartphones in India. As per the latest reports, LG seems to follow the same route as its Korean counterpart. The company might soon launch a new smartphone series specific to the Indian market and will be exclusive to online stores. The first smartphone under this new series will be coming with a budget price tag and sports triple camera setup on the rear.
The rear of the device looks the same as any other triple camera smartphone available in the market. It comes with a gradient finish and sports protruding rear cameras along with LED flash and circular fingerprint scanner. The device seems to come with a curved glass body and metal mid-frame. The company earlier this year launched the LG V50 ThinQ and LG G8 ThinQ smartphones. Both the smartphones came with FullVision OLED display featuring a wider notch. Now, the upcoming budget smartphone is also mentioned to come with a FullVision display.
We expect the upcoming smartphone to come with waterdrop notch which offers better screen-to-body ratio. Also, we hope the company uses better chipset and prices it really aggressively. While the brand in unofficially dead in the Indian smartphone market, a good budget smartphone launch can change its fate. A couple of months back, LG launched the K12+ smartphone in Brazil for BRL 1,199 (approx USD 305 / INR 21,000). It came with a 5.7-inch HD+ (1440 × 720 pixels) display with 18:9 aspect ratio and is covered with a 2.5D curved glass on the top.
Under the hood, the device is powered by the 12nm MediaTek Helio P22 (MT6762) octa-core processor coupled with PowerVR GE8320 GPU. It is packed with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There is also a MicroSD card slot for further expansion of internal storage. In the camera department, the LG K12+ sports a 16MP camera on the rear and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. Both the front and rear cameras are accompanied by LED flash. Just below is the rear camera module is the fingeprirnt scanner for secure unlocking. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
