LG X Screen that was showcased at the MWC 2016 held in February and was included in the X series has got launched at an event held in Delhi. The noting feature of the device is a secondary screen that is placed on the top and is priced at Rs. 12990 in India and will go on sale from 20th Midnight via Snapdeal exclusively. LG has included an SOS button on the device and is powered with a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor coupled with 2 GB of RAM and Adreno 306 GPU.

Few tips and tricks of the device are mentioned below that can be helpful for the users.

What is the secondary Screen?

The secondary Screen on the LG X Screen is located on the right top of the main Screen. It is 1.76 inches of Screen, and it’s a new introduction to the smartphones.

Resolution and uses of secondary Screen

The 1.76 inch secondary Screen comes with an 80 x 520 pixels resolution which is always on, even though the Main Screen of the device is off. This lets the user see the time and date without having to unlock the device every time. This Screen also shows if there any notification on the device and favorite applications can also be assigned for quick access to it. To turn on the X Screen, go to the settings of the device and tap on the display option, from here you can setup it accordingly from the options given.

How to activate the SOS?

An SOS button will send alert to the prescribed contacts in case of an emergency. LG has introduced this feature on to this device so that it gives the required security to its users. To activate the SOS, the user needs to press the power button five and an alert will be sent to the chosen contacts, and the call will be answered automatically when they call you back. It also sends the location so that they can be tracked easily.

How can we insert the SIM card?

To insert a SIM card on LG X creen, there is a slot provided on the side. With the help of a SIM ejector pin, remove the SIM card tray and place the SIM cards according to the instructions given.

What is the type of SIM supported?

This is dual SIM smartphone and supports dual standby like most of the devices. The SIM card backed by the device is Nano SIM card, and this option is very much important to the users as they can use two different numbers on a single device.

The device comes with a 4.93 inch 720 x 1280 pixels IPS LCD capacitive touchScreen display that gives out a pixel density of 298 PPI. The body to Screen ratio is 65.4% and is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass.

To share data from your LG X Screen, open the Settings and tap on more button in Wireless & networks. Now tap on the Portable hotspot and select the option Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot to enable that on your device. You can change the Network SSID name and Password by tapping on Set up Wi-Fi Hotspot in the same menu. You can set securities levels and also deny access to certain devices. A maximum of eight devices can be connected to this network.

Hold the power/lock button along with the volume down button simultaneously until you feel a vibration or hear a sound. This captured Screenshot can be quickly viewed by swiping from the top or by opening the gallery app. This Screenshot can be shared via any application immediately or later.

How to check for the Android Updates on the device?

For checking for updates on your device, tap on the System folder and click on Wireless updates. The device checks for updates and if there are no new updates on your device then “Your Phone Software version is Latest One” is displayed on the Screen. If there is an update available the user needs to download the update and then install it, make sure the battery of the device is more than half before the installation process starts.

How to Install external apps with apk files on the device?

External apps can be installed by enabling the Unknown sources options on the device. To enable this on your LG X SCREEN, Open the Settings and tap on Lock Screen & Security in the personal section. In the new window, tap on unknown sources and click on the OK button enable this on your device. Now, you can install any apk file on your device but make sure that it won’t harm your device.

How to customize the Quick Settings in the Notification Panel?

The Quick Settings in the notification panel cannot be customized.

How to use the Power saving modes on the LG X Screen?

To activate this, go to the settings of the device and tap on battery option, here you can turn on the power saving mode and the device will reduce the performance and last for longer period. You can also set the limit for the battery saver mode to be activated automatically. Power saving mode will improve the battery life of the device by restricting the background usage of the device so it should be used only when required.

What are the sensors available on the phone?

Direction, G-Sensor, Acceleration, Light, E-Compass, Proximity, Gyro, Linear acceleration and Rotation Vector are the sensors available on the device and helps in automating the device.

Are there LED notification lights on the device?

Yes, the device comes with LED notification lights and to use this feature the user must be enabled on the device. To use the LED Lights on your device, open the Settings, tap on Brightness & display in the device section and click on Indicator light. You will find options like Calls, Messages, Notification, Charge and Low battery. Tap on the options for which you want to get a LED notification on your device.

How to use the Screen pinning feature on the LG X SCREEN?

LG X Screen comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and does support the Screen pinning feature. To turn on this feature, open the settings of the device and tap on Lock Screen & security. Now head over to Screen pinning option and tap on it. Toggle the button to enable or disable the feature on the device. Now open the new menu and pin any of the application on your device by tapping on the pin button. To unpin your pinned Screen, you need to press the back button for few seconds, and you have successfully unpinned from your device. Screen pinning option is available on the devices running Android Lollipop on it.

Can I Move apps from phone storage to SD card?

There is no such option using which you can move an app from internal storage to external SD Card on your device.

Can I remove the bloatware apps from the device?

Yes, the device comes with an option where you can uninstall the apps from your device. Not all the applications can be uninstalled; the applications which cannot be uninstalled can be disabled from your device. To uninstall an app, open the settings and tap on App in the device section and click on the app that you want to remove. In the app info window, click on the uninstall button, the app is successfully removed from your device.

How much is the internal storage on the LG X SCREEN?

This handset comes with 16 GB of onboard storage that can be further extended up to a maximum of 256 GB via dedicated microSD card slot.

Does the device support OTG?

No, the device does not support OTG (On the Go) drive where you can exchange the data from your device to drive with ease.

How much free RAM is available on the device if no apps are running?

X Screen comes with 2 GB of RAM out of which around 1.2 GB is available for the users, and the rest is occupied by the system OS and other pre-installed applications.

Will the LG X Screen get Android Marshmallow 6.0 Update?

As mentioned above the device is running Android 6.0. Marshmallow with LG’s own Optimus UX UI on top. The company has not provided information about the further updates, but the device may get the other update soon. How to change the Theme on your device?

Themes on this device can be changed by heading on to the settings section of the device. Now by tapping on it display section of it and select Themes. Now, click on the theme that you want to apply and tap on the use button. You also have the option of downloading the Themes online.
