LG K5 & K8 LTE Smartphones with 5″ Display & Quad-Core SoC Announced

Apart from the flagship LG G5, the company also launched few smartphone under the new K-series. In January, LG has listed the K4, K7, and K10 smartphones on their official website which are now available in some selected markets. Apart from the flagship devices like LG G5 & LG V10, the company’s mid-range hasn’t been that popular considering the competition. At the recently held MWC, the company showcased new  X-series smartphones, LG X Cam & LG X Screen and today the company has unveiled two more new devices – LG K5 & K8 LTE.

Talking about the latest smartphones, Juno Cho, President & CEO of LG Mobiles, said,

LG K5

The LG K5 comes with a polycarbonate back cover with the power button and volume rocker placed on the side edges. It features a 5-inch FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) display  and comes powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor. There is 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage along with a Micro SD card for storage expansion.

It features a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front camera for selfies and video calls. The device runs on Android 5.1 and includes a 1,900mAh battery which may not give a single day of usage. Connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. It measures 145 x 71.6 x 8.9 mm.

LG K8 LTE

The LG K8 LTE comes with much superior build quality compared to the LG K5, the textured back panel offers some grip to hold on to the device. As seen with earlier LG devices, the power button is placed on the rear of the device, sitting just below the primary camera.

It features the same 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display with a 2.5D glass on top. Under the hood is the unknown quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz, we expect this to be the same processor as on K5. It come in two variants with 1GB and 1.5GB of RAM and has 8GB of expandable storage.

Unlike the LG K5, the K8 LTE runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. It sports an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP selfie camera on the front. The device is kept powered on by a 2125mAh battery and measures 8.7 mm thickness. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS, and MicroUSB port.

The LG K5 will be available in Europe, CIS, and Latin America and comes in Gold, Silver, and Titan colors. On the other hand, the LG K8 LTE aims at the emerging markets in Asia, Africa, Middle East, CIS, and Latin America. It come in Gold, Indigo, and White color options. The exact availability dates and pricing aren’t announced yet.
