LG K8 with 5″ HD display & SD425 SoC Launched in India for Rs. 9,999
At the CES 2017, LG unveiled the all-new k-series smartphones to cater the budget smartphone market. Now in August, the company launched the LG K8 2017 (X240i) smartphone in India for Rs. 11,000 and is available for the best buy price of Rs. 9,999. It will be sold through offline stores across India. LG is one of the very few major manufacturers to still launch the budget smartphones. The LG devices lack the powerful specifications to compete with the Chinese devices. Even the new LG K8 2017 comes with the plastic body while most of its competitors are offering metal build smartphones.
The LG K8 runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with the customised LG UX UI laid on top. It sports a 5-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution. There is also a 2.5D curved glass laid on the top. Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 (MSM8917) quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. It includes 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be expandable up to 32GB via a MicroSD card slot. The power button placed on the rear also comes with an integrated fingerprint sensor as seen on other LG smartphones.
In the camera department, the smartphone sports a 13MP autofocus camera on the rear with a large 1/3″ sensor, f/2.2 aperture, and LED flash. For selfies, there is a 5MP front camera with f/2.4 aperture and auto shot mode. It supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G VoLTE for using with the Jio 4G SIM. It is backed by a 2,500mAh battery that is rated to give up to 18 hours of talk time and lasts up to 490 hours on standby mode. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, A-GPS, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. It measures 144.5 x 72.1 x 8 mm and weighs 144 grams.
Next month, the company will also launch the LG Q6 Plus in India as an upgraded variant to the already launched LG Q6. While the LG Q6 is priced at Rs. 14,999, the upcoming LG Q6 Plus will be priced at Rs. 17,990. The LG Q6 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD+ display offering 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor and comes coupled 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The device also includes a 13MP rear camera, 5MP selfie camera, and a 3,000mAh battery. As seen on the LG Q6, the LG Q6 Plus also misses the fingerprint sensor.
