LG G8 ThinQ with Snapdragon 855 SoC to Launch in India in August

At the MWC 2019 event held in February this year, LG unveiled the two flagship smartphones – LG G8 ThinQ and LG V50 ThinQ 5G. The LG V50 ThinQ 5G is now made available in the US and South Korea. Even the LG G8 ThinQ which is the regular flagship is also limited to very few markets. While we expected the company to launch the LG G8 ThinQ to launch in India in the first half of this year, the company now announced to launch the device in August.

With the LG G8 ThinQ, the company introduced a few new features like Hand ID for secure unlocking and Air Motion for controlling the device without actually touching it. Talking about the specifications, the LG G8 ThinQ comes with a 6.1-inch OLED FullVision display with Quad HD+ (3120 x 1440 pixels) resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the device sports 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform with coupled with Kryo 480 CPU and Adreno 640 GPU.

It comes packed with 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 flash storage. The device also supports storage expansion up to 2TB using the MicroSD card slot. The triple camera setup on the rear of the LG G8 ThinQ sports a 12MP primary camera with f/1.5 aperture, a 16MP super-wide-angle camera with f/1.9 aperture, and a 12MP telephoto camera with f/2.4 aperture. On the front, there is an 8MP selfie camera with f/1.7 aperture along with a ToF 3D sensor.

The LG G8 ThinQ runs on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with LG UX UI laid on top. It is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance and MIL-STD-810G certified for its military-grade durability. The device comes with a circular fingerprint scanner on the rear and also supports 3D face unlock. It is backed by a 3,500mAh non-removable battery and supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology. It measures 151.9 x 71.8 x 8.4 mm and weighs 167 grams.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port. Even though the device comes with a single speaker, it offers stereo sound output using the in-house Crystal Sound OLED (CSO) technology which converts the OLED display into a secondary speaker. The LG G8 ThinQ is also equipped with 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC for superior audio output. Stay tuned on Phone radar for the pricing and availability details for the Indian market.
