LG is expected to launch the LG G7 with the latest Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform at MWC 2018. Instead, it came up with the LG V30S ThinQ and V30S+ ThinQ smartphones powered by last year’s Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform. The 2018 flagship smartphone from LG will be called as LG G7 ThinQ. It competes with the other flagship devices like Samsung Galaxy S9, Sony Xperia XZ2, Huawei P20 Pro, and OnePlus 6.
LG’s Upcoming Flagship Smartphone to Launch as LG G7 ThinQ

Instead of launching a new flagship smartphone at the MWC 2018, LG came up with an upgraded variant of the last year’s LG V30 smartphone. This new device is named as LG V30S ThinQ and included the AI-centric camera features. The company introduced the ThinQ brand in December 2017 for launching the products with AI features. With the LG G7, the company seems to integrate the flagship devices within the ThinQ brand.
While the information came from the reliable leakster Evan Blass, the company is yet to confirm the name change. However, there are earlier leaks suggesting the company might launch its new flagship smartphone with a new name. Based on the leaks from Korea, LG is said to launch the LG G7 ThinQ in April. It will first go on sale in South Korea starting mid-May. We might see two variants of the upcoming LG flagship smartphone.
It is said to sport dual rear cameras with f/1.5 aperture and will also be a dedicated AI button. While the LG V30S ThinQ smartphones came with Snapdragon 835 chipset, the LG G7 ThinQ will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset. Talking about the build quality, it will come with metal frame and glass back body. As seen on earlier launched LG smartphones, the fingerprint sensor will be integrated into the power button.
The device will be running on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The AI features seen on the LG V30S ThinQ should also be offered with its upcoming smartphone.
LG G7 ThinQ Leaked Photos Reveal Key Details

A few days back, we got to know the upcoming flagship smartphone from LG will be called as LG G7 ThinQ. Now, the leaked photos of the device reveal some key specifications. It comes with the model number LG-G710TM and it is currently being tested by the U.S carriers. The LG G7 ThinQ is now expected to launch in May and might go on sale in the same month. It will be the first smartphone from LG to come with a display notch.
It is mentioned to come with a 6.1-inch display that will be offering Quad HD+ resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, it will come powered by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform. The LG G7 ThinQ will be offering 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. LG G7 ThinQ to Sport Super Bright Display with 1000 Nits Brightness

LG is the only major smartphone which is yet to unveil its 2018 flagship smartphone. The upcoming LG G7 ThinQ has been in the leaks from last few months. However, the company has started teasing about this new device from the last couple of weeks. It was already confirmed to launch on May 2nd in New York. The company has been offering the AI features with the ThinQ branded devices. The new LG G7 ThinQ is mentioned to offer ‘Voice AI’ for voice commands and ‘Vision AI’ for camera enhancements.
Today, the company has officially confirmed the LG G7 ThinQ to come with a 6.1-inch LCD display with Quad HD + (3120 x 1440 pixels) resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. LG is calling it as Super Bright Display and will offer 1000 nits brightness, highest on any smartphone. Even with highest brightness, the Super Bright Display is also said to be power efficient than other displays with same screen size and resolution.
The user can manually increase the screen brightness to 1000 nits using the ‘brightness boost’ option for better visibility in bright sunlight. With 100% DCI-P3 color reproduction rate, this display also shows richer and accurate colors. Though there is a notch on the top, the user can cover it up with the black screen though the LG UX UI. While Huawei is already offering this feature with their newly launched Huawei P20 smartphones, the upcoming OnePlus 6 will include the same feature.
LG G7 ThinQ Spotted in Live Images

LG has been teasing the new features of its 2018 flagship smartphone, LG G7 ThinQ. A couple of days back, the company mentioned the G7 ThinQ to come equipped with Boombox speaker that offers louder sound and powerful bass. It will also be the first smartphone to feature the DTS X technology that is mentioned to offer high-end stereoscopic sound even without using high-end earphones. As seen on the LG V30, the upcoming LG G7 ThinQ will also offer Quad DAC for Hi-Fi audio output. Just a day of its official launch, the live images of the LG G7 ThinQ are now leaked online.
While are yet to get any official confirmation, the leaked images unofficially confirm the design of the device. From these images, we can see the glossy finish of the device with heavy smudges and fingerprints. As LG announced earlier, the area around the notch is covered in black. The same feature can also be found on the Huawei P20 Pro and OnePlus 6 smartphones. LG will be officially launching the LG G7 ThinQ smartphone tomorrow in New York.

After months of rumors and leaks, the all-new flagship smartphone from LG is now officially unveiled. It is called as LG G7 ThinQ and comes equipped with latest specifications. The LG G7 ThinQ will be the successor to last year’s LG G6. With the G7 ThinQ, LG becomes the latest brand to embrace the notch display. However, its much better solution compared to the secondary display seen on the LG V10 and V20 smartphones.
The device sports a glass back body with metal frame. LG finally separated the power button and fingerprint sensor. While the fingerprint sensor stays on the rear, the power button is now placed on the right edge. On the left edge are the volume rocker and a dedicated button to trigger the Google Assistant. The G7 ThinQ comes with a 6.1-inch FullVision ‘Super Bright’ display with Quad HD+ (3120 × 1440 pixels) resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and 1000 nits brightness.
While the LG V30 devices are equipped with pOLED panels, the latest G7 ThinQ uses the LCD panels. There is a notch on the top of the display that can be hidden using the software. As seen on the other Android smartphones with notch displays, the LG G7 ThinQ also sports a bottom chin. Under the hood is the 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform coupled with Kryo 385 CPU and Adreno 630 GPU.
The device comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There is also a MicroSD card slot further expanding the storage. LG also announced the LG G7 ThinQ+ with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Coming to the camera department, there is are 16MP dual cameras on the rear where one of them is the wide-angle sensor. While the standard sensor comes with OIS, 71-degree FoV, and f/1.6 aperture, the wide-angle sensor has OIS, 107-degree FoV and f/1.9 aperture.
The AI Cam feature introduced with the LG V30S ThinQ smartphones is also present on this new smartphone. There is also a ‘Super Bright Camera’ mode that uses AI to brighten the videos and photos but lowers the resolution. Talking about the selfies, LG has upgraded the front camera on the LG G7 ThinQ to an 8MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box with the customized LG UX 6.0 laid on top.
For audiophiles, the LG G7 ThinQ features 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC and supports DTS:X 3D Surround Sound. The company is also introducing the new Boombox Speaker with the G7 ThinQ smartphone. Apart from all these, the company is also retaining the 3.5mm audio jack. With all these features, the LG G7 ThinQ is backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery and supports QuickCharge 3.0 and wireless charging.
It is also water and dust resistant, thanks to the IP68 certification. Connectivity options include port 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C. It measures 153.2 x 71.9 x 7.9 mm and weighs 162 grams. The LG G7 ThinQ will be available in New Platinum Gray, New Aurora Black, New Moroccan Blue, and Raspberry Rose color options. It will first go on sale in South Korea followed by major markets across the world.
As of now, the company is yet to announce the pricing and the exact availability dates for the LG G7 ThinQ smartphone.
