LeTV Launches Most Affordable VR Headset LeVR COOL1 at just $23

LeTV, an online video streaming giant in China, has finally unveiled the pricing for its VR Headset. The LeVR Cool 1 is priced at an affordable 149 Yuan, which converts to $23. For the pricing, you’re getting a well designed VR headset, unlike the Google Cardboard which company introduced at its Google I/O event last year. The sale for these VR headsets starts from December 29, and they would be available for grab from company’s website, LeMall.

The market has been seeing a tremendous demand for an affordable virtual reality headset for a while now. Earlier, Samsung’s Gear VR headset was the only headset that was made with more feature than just a DIY (Do-it-Yourself) cardboard. It was announced in September last year, but hasn’t really seen interest by consumers, because of its limitation, i.e. it would only work with Samsung premium handsets.

Already have tons of video collections in the form of its online streaming service, LeTV plans to integrate their Video-on-Demand service to the LeVR. The company calls it’s a “Virtual Private Theater” and is hoping the suite of apps that comes with helps it grow in the VR market. Note that the headsets would be sold in a batch; the first 20,000 units would be up for grab on the December 29 sale. Currently, it would only work with LeTV handsets including LeTV One and LeTV One Pro, although, company is planning to extend the compatibility.

Now with LeVR Cool 1 being up for pre-order in China, we are seeing a nice future for VR enthusiasts. In the upcoming CES event happening in the United States, where the company recently started its online store for selling accessories, it is now anticipated that LeTV would showcase this VR headset at the expo. So, you can expect this affordable virtual reality kit head to the US soon. The VR headsets that were recently announced includes Razer VR, Archos VR, Carl Zeiss VR and Air VR, these are some of the headsets that you can look into to know more stuff about his industry.

Talking about the competition, the current scenario in the industry is that there are not many such headsets. LeTV can expect a warm welcome from its US audience as well as another international market where the company would be expanding its presence. Don’t worry India seem to be on the list.
