LeTV Le 1s Superphone Launched in China – Specs & Features

LeTV, the Chinese company which has not only evolved from the media business to multiple ventures, has now launched its 2nd Gen smartphone, dubbed as the Le 1s. According to LeTV, they were the first brand to launch a smartphone with the USB Type-C Connectivity that has become mainstream now. In April 2015, the company had debuted with three high-end smartphones, and they are hugely successful in China in these six months.

Unlike the others manufacturers, which launch the smartphones by combine hardware and software, LeTV Superphones comes with an ecosystem of unique content and features. The Smartphone comes with some unique & new features like the LIVE application that takes you live within a matter of seconds. It does have an IR Blaster; hence a Remote Control application also comes pre-installed on it.

The Le 1s has a DUAL Sim Card support with Dual Standby & Dual 4G connectivity. Talking about the security, the Le 1s features one of the fastest fingerprint sensors with mirrored finish that recognizes your fingerprint in 0.15 seconds. The device is built into a strong metal unique body with a 5.5-inch Ful HD In-Cell display. It is also 25% more brighter than the recently launched iPhone 6s.

Under the hood is the MediaTek Helio X10 processor clocked at 2.2GHz, coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The device is supported by the 3,000mAh non-removable battery that can easily last for a single day of usage with the optimisation in the UI. The device also supports fast charging with charging capacity of 24W/3A.

Talking about the camera, it has a 13MP rear camera with PDAF technology and f/2.0 aperture that can focus in just 0.09 second, that is two times faster than the iPhone 6s. On the front, it has a 5MP selfie camera with 85-degree wide angle lens and f/2.0 aperture.It runs on the Android 5.1 Lolipop OS along with their in-house eUI 5.5 Skin installed over the Android. It measures 151.1 x 74.2 x 7.5 mm and weighs around 169 grams.

According to the company, the Le 1s had topped the Antutu benchmarking score list with a score of 55958. The device is priced at 1099 Yuan (approx $173 / Rs.  11,200) which can give a tough competition to the mid-range smartphones from other manufacturers. The device will be sold through JD.com & their own LeMall.com, while the first sale with 3,00,000 units will be held on November 3rd.

In terms of the pricing, the brand has clearly announced that they are not going to follow Apple’s principle of 300%+ Profit margins & would actually sell their phones at a loss especially on the hardware front. Clearly this strategy is to jump start this new Smartphone business that can later become profitable once they have reached a good market share.
