The much anticipated Lenovo’s first in-display front facing camera phone – the Lenovo Z5s is slated to launch on 18th of this month. The company has been teasing the launch of their upcoming smartphone on Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo.

Routine, the Vice President of Lenovo Group has shed some more details about the upcoming Lenovo Z5s on the micro-blogging site. According to him the Lenovo Z5s ships with Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box. More interestingly, the Z5s is to be powered by new Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 SoC, which is yet to be released from the chip maker. It is believed that this new 678 SoC is catered to a powerful mid-range chipset and as per the naming it falls in between SD 675 and SD 710 SoC’s. However, this might be an incremental upgrade from the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 675 chipset.

The upcoming Lenovo Z5s smartphone will feature a triple camera setup on the rear, which the company has been teasing lately. The triple cameras are also expected to come with AI scene recognition capabilities as well. As for the anticipated display on the Z5s, it is assumed to feature an identical display technology, which Samsung has implemented on the recently released Galaxy A8s. Since the in-display camera technology from the Korean smartphone manufacturer is already out there, we need to wait for a few more days on what ASUS has to offer.
