Lava has just launched the Iris Icon smartphone in India, and the phone is going to be exclusively sold on the online retailer Snapdeal, for the price of Rs. 11499. The 7.7 mm thick smartphone does look sleek and slim enough, but the major emphasis here is said to be put on the camera, more than on other specs.
The 5-inch display on the Iris Icon has an HD resolution, and under the hood, the smartphone is packed with a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor (probably a Mediatek one, though not mentioned) along with Mali 400 MP2 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The display is of IPS technology, and has a ASAHI Dragontrail Glass protection. It is the stock UI that you would see on Android 4.4 KitKat running in the Iris Icon.
As said above, it is more about the camera than the other specs in the Icon. The rear camera is a 13MP sensor (Sony EXMOR image sensor) with F/2.0 aperture and it is a 5P lens, assisted with Dual LED flash. On the front, the phone has a Omni Vision Sensor with 5MP camera has a 73.8˚ field of view (FOV). The camera features include HDR Mode, Panorama Mode, Smile Shot and Face Beauty Mode.
The Lava Iris Icon has 16GB internal storage, and a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. The 2500 mAh battery in the device is said to be giving about 17 hours of talk time on 3G, and 430 hours of standby time. It is a Dual SIM handset with 3G connectivity for data, apart from the other connectivity options including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.
The Iris Icon is available only on Snapdeal, and as a part of initial offer, Lava is offering a free selfie stick with Bluetooth shutter for about initial 500 buyers.
