Every few weeks there’s a new report on the market shares by different brands in India but according to this new report by MoboMarket, it is clear that both Samsung & Micromax are the undisputed leaders. They have been leading & are already growing even though there is a surge in Chinese Brands entering India from the past two years. Let us take a look at the report that has some interesting & insightful information about the industry & a few other verticals.
Let’s start with the Market shares, where Samsung & Micromax have a combined share of around 60% that clearly tells that the industry is not fragmented & the large portfolio of products is openly accepted by the consumers. Both of these brands have a variety of devices that range in every price bracket giving the users an option that they can consider.
Considering that this report is through a service that’s only available on Android, there’s no mention of Apple in the same. Two months back we had covered a story that mentioned Samsung is the No. 1 Smartphone Brand followed by Apple & Huawei pointing Samsung leading while Apple was catching up in the total market shares. In today’s report the data is based on all the device that include Feature Phones & Smartphones where Micromax has a strong presence.
Talking about other brands like Xiaomi that also have a good portfolio of products, we see that they have a small presence in the report with just 2.2% market cap. Intex, on the other hand, is slowly taking a lead all over the country with their Make in India announcements & also massive marketing campaigns.
Talking about these market shares, we are expecting some changes on the fronts of Chinese brands taking better shares with the introduction of Xiaomi Mi5, Honor 7i, OnePlus X, OnePlus 2 mini & the Yu Yutopia Smartphone.
