Huawei to Launch Kirin 980-powered MediaPad M6 on June 21st

Huawei has scheduled a launch event on June 21st in China. As per the rumors, the company might four new smartphone under the new Nova 5 series – Nova 5, Nova 5i, Nova 5 Pro, and Nova 5i Pro. The company today posted a new teaser image on Weibo confirming about the launch of new MediaPad M6 tablet on the same day. The MediaPad M6 will be launched as the successor to last year’s MediaPad M5 which came in two different screen sizes.

However, there are also chances that the company might announce several version of the MediaPad M6 tablet. As seen on its predecessor, the teaser also confirmed the Mediapad M6 to come with stereo speakers. It will also come powered by the flagship Kirin 980 octa-core processor. Last years, MediaPad M5 came in 10.8-inch and 8.4-inch screen sizes. Both the variants are powered by the Kirin 960 octa-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM.

In terms of optics, the last-gen tablets offered a 13MP camera on the rear and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. Both the tablets also included a fingerprint scanner on the front. The 10.8-inch MediaPad M5 is backed by a 7,500mAh battery with 18W (9V/2A) fast charging support. The smaller 8.4-inch variant packed a 5,100mAh battery with the same 18W fast charging technology. While 8.4-inch variant came with Harman Kardon-certified stereo speakers, the 10.8-inch MediaPad M5 is equipped with quad speaker setup.

The company also launched the 8.4-inch and 10.8-inch variants in Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + LTE connectivity options. While the MediaPad came with 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage options, the company might ditch the 32GB storage variant with the upcoming MediaPad M6 tablet.
