Huawei to Drill a Hole Over a Bezel-less Display for Front Camera in Upcoming Smartphone

The thick bezels on the smartphones always looked bad. While the manufacturers starting to trim down the bezels by using the 18:9 displays, the essential phone came out with the notch display. However, the Apple iPhone X with the huge notch has led the way for the world with smartphones with notch displays. Recently, OPPO and Vivo have launched Find X and NEX smartphones respectively with complete bezel-less displays offering more than 90% screen-to-body ratio.

Now, the latest news suggests Huawei to drill a hole on display of its upcoming smartphone for the front camera. Just like the in-display fingerprint sensor, we also hope to see under-display front cameras. As.of now, the under-display cameras look like a science fantasy. While drilling a hole for the front camera isn’t a perfect solution, we have to wait and see how Huawei implements this new display technology.

The Huawei Mate RS launched alongside the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro came with an in-display fingerprint sensor. We hope to see its successor to embrace this new display design with a hole. While the displays came with the cut-out for the notch on the top, the camera hole might be completely surrounded by the display. The device coming with this new design will sport a 6.39-inch LCD display. According to the source, the company is planning to unveil the smartphone in Q4 this year.

As of now, we don’t have much information about this new design language. Later this month, Huawei is going to launch the Nova 3 smartphone in India. The Nova 3 is the world’s first smartphone with notch display to feature dual front cameras.
