A few weeks back, it was reported that Huawei is working on a dedicated chip for AI. Not a lot of info was available back then, however, now it looks like we are quite close to the official announcement of the same. Yes, the company has now started teasing the same on its official social media handle, which makes us believe that the launch is closer than we expected.
Huawei has released a teaser poster which reads, “AI is not just a voice assistant.” And today, they released yet another poster which reads, “It’s time to rethink what AI means, what it does, where it lives, and how it enhances your life.” Both of these posters are directly hinting towards a new AI product coming from the company.
And in case, if you have been following the news lately, Huawei consumer business CEO Yu Chengdong, had revealed that the company will launch an artificial intelligence chip. At the time of the announcement, he had predicted that by 2025 more than 90% of smartphone users will benefit from these assistants and their services. As of now, there are a ton of them in the market like Siri, Bixby, Google Assistant, etc. And with the launch of this new AI chip, Huawei aims to be the pioneers in this field.
And as far as the chip itself is concerned, it has been speculated that it will be announced along with the new Kirin 970 chipset. All this is expected to happen in the month of September at IFA 2017 show floor. It looks like the company’s CEO will be present there and more details on this chipset as well the new AI chip will be revealed. Having said that, we hope to learn more about the same in coming days and weeks as Huawei will teasing more info about it. Hence, be sure to stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more info on this.
