Huawei will reportedly launch the world’s first smart TV with 8K resolution and 5G connectivity in the latter half of this year. However, the company is yet to make any official announcement about this. Now, two new smart TVs from Huawei are spotted on China’s 3C certification website. Both these smart TVs are manufactured by BOE group which the company is also working with for Mate X foldable phone. However, we don’t think any of these TVs come with 8K resolution and 5G support.
These will help the company to enter the new vertical which is already crowded with several local and international players. In the wake for the recent ban by the US government, we don’t think Huawei will rely on Android platform for building the OS for its smart TVs. With the Huawei Watch GT, the company ditched Google’s WearOS in favor of its own Lite OS. In the coming months, the Chinese tech company will unveil its own proprietary OS for smartphones and computers.
While it was earlier rumored to be called as HongMeng OS, Huawei recently trademarked the name ARK OS in EU. The company is also reportedly targeting to sell over 10 million TVs this year. Even in the TV industry, Huawei will be competing with other smartphone brands like Xioami, Samsung, LG, and Sony. We might more details about the Huawei smart TVs in the coming weeks.
