Earlier this month, Honor launched two HonorPad Android tablets alongside the Honor 20 smartphones. Now, its parent company is reportedly launching a new tablet very soon in India. The leaked images confirm the Huawei tablet to be launched in India is the MediaPad T5 which was first launched in China in October 2018. The MediaPad T5 is the affordable 10-inch tablet from the company. In China, the base variant of the MediaPad T5 with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage is launched for CNY 1399 (approx USD 200 / INR 14,000).
The company launched the same tablet in the global markets with 2GB + 16GB storage option as the base model. The MediaPad T5 sports 10.1-inch display on the front with Full HD (1920 x 1200 pixels) resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the tablet comes powered by the Kirin 659 octa-core processor coupled with Mali T830 MP2 GPU. It comes with dual stereo speakers with the in-house Histen sound technology.
There is also a MicroSD card slot for further expanding the strorage up to 256GB. The tablet runs on the older Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 out of the box. Also, we don’t expect the company to release the EMUI 9.0 update based on Android 9.0 Pie. In the camera department, the Huawei MediaPad T5 sports a 5MP autofocus camera on the rear with f/2.4 aperture and a 2MP fixed focus camera on the front with f/2.4 aperture for selfies and video calls.
However, there is no LED flash on the front and rear of the tablet. While it backed by a 5,100mAh non-removable, there is no fast charging support. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz & 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. The Huawei MediaPad T5 measures 243 x 164 x 7.8 mm and weighs about 460 grams. It comes in Black and Champagne Gold color options. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
