At the MWC 2018, Huawei introduced the MediaPad M5 8.0, MediaPad M5 10.8, and MediaPad M5 Pro tablets. These are few of the flagship Android tablets launched in 2018. Now, the company has confirmed to release the GPU Turbo update for all the M5-series tablets. Honor Play launched last month is the first smartphone to come with GPU Turbo onboard. The company also confirmed to release the GPU Turbo update to all the Honor and Huawei flagship smartphones launched in the last two years.
As the company claims, the GPU Turbo update will improve graphics processing performance by over 60% and at the same time, the power consumption will be decreased by 30%. The GPU Turbo feature will be available for devices running only on Kirin chipsets. Recently, the company also launched the Honor 10 GT and Honor V10 GT smartphone with GPU Turbo feature and 8GB of RAM. While Huawei and Honor consider GPU Turbo to offer major enhancements while using Graphics-intensive apps, we are yet to test out this new feature.
Talking about the MediaPad M5 tablets, they come powered by the last-gen Kirin 960 octa-core processor. The tablets come with the metal unibody design with 2.5D curved glass on the front. The MediaPad M5 Pro also comes with smart keyboard connector and stylus support. The tablets also feature Harmon Kardon tuned speakers for an immersive experience. While the 8-inch tablet comes with dual speakers, the other variants sport quad speakers. They run on Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 out of the box.
As the tablets come with huge batteries, the company also added fast charging support. While the availability of these tablets is limited to a few markets, the company hasn’t confirmed the timeline for the GPU Turbo update outside of China. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
