Huawei launched the P9 smartphone recently in India, and it had a good appreciation for its camera performance. The smartphone had a dual-camera sensor developed by Leica. Leica is one of the professional players when it comes to different range cameras. Now it looks like the camera is looking to retain the camera sensors in the upcoming smartphones as well. We all know that the company is planning to launch the Mate 9 smartphone sometime by the end of this year. Well, it looks like this smartphone will also have the same camera sensor that the P9 carried.

Yes, according to the new reports, this new smartphone will carry Dual-camera setup from Leica. But time around, it will come with laser auto-focus & OIS as well. And interestingly, there are other rumours claiming that the Mate S2, which is another upcoming smartphone from the company, could also get the same Leica treatment. So with all these rumours in place, it looks like we are in for a photography feast from Huawei here. Stay tuned for more info on this.

Mate 9 camera

Earlier: We have seen a handful of rumours about the Huawei Mate 9 till now, and one thing we know for sure is that it is definitely in works. This will be a successor to the previously launched Mate 8 smartphone, which was launched back in 2015. Now this new variant is reportedly going to make the existing device even better in many ways.

Now we have a more detailed look at this device from the images that are leaked. Looking at these renders, the device appears to be built out of metal. Another thing to notice here is the camera. We can see a dual camera setup, just like we recently say with the Huawei P9 smartphone which launched recently in India. This device also has laser autofocus. And the fingerprint scanner is at the back of the device, right below that camera sensor.

Other than that, it also appears to have a USB Type-C port at the bottom with the speaker grills on both sides. We don’t have any other details on the hardware but going by the previous rumours, this device will feature a 5.9-inch 1080p display on the front and will be powered by HiSilicon 960 chipset. It will pack 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It is also expected that it will sport an 8-megapixel front facing selfie shooter as well and the details on the rear facing cameras is unclear as multiple rumours claim it t be of 12-megapixels, and other suggests it will be of 20-megapixel. This type of dual-camera setup was also seen with the recently launched Honor 8 also. So this was expected here as well, as this is being implemented by most of the manufacturers nowadays.

Also at this point, we cannot comment on the availability or the pricing of the device, but stay tuned to PhoneRadar for details in coming weeks.
