BPL to launch a Smart Speaker Powered by Alexa
The Indian consumer electronics brand BPL has today announced its plan to bring a new Alexa-enabled smart speaker called ‘BPL Voice One’ in 2018. Unlike the Amazon’s own Echo speakers, the Voice One is expected to come with an affordable price tag. Even the most affordable Echo Dot is still priced at Rs. 3,149. Amazon is yet to ship the pre-ordered Echo speakers in India.
Meizu Note 6 Now Comes in Red Color
The Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Meizu launched the M6 Note in Red color called as M6 Note Scarlet Red Edition. Unlike the Red-colored M6 Note One Piece special edition, there are no Golden Antenna lines on this device. Apart from the new color option, there are no other changes made to the device. The new M6 Note Scarlet Red Edition comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage and is priced at 1299 Yuan.
AT&T Mobile TV Cast Mod for Moto Z Devices Launched
Earlier this week, Motorola announced the Moto Smart Speaker Mod with Amazon’s Alexa. According to Android Authority, the company might soon launch the AT&T Mobile TV Cast Mod for casting the content from DirecTV Now on any TV. The user has to connect the provided plug-and-play accessory to the TV. As of now, there is no information about the pricing and availability of this new Mod. The DirecTV Now subscription from AT&T costs $35/month. The Mod itself packs a 2,730mAh that might also charge the device like powerbank.
LG’s First Ever Standalone VR Headset Might be Named as UltraGear
LG might soon unveil the high-end Virtual Reality headset called as UltraGear. While there is no official confirmation, the name of this device was trademarked by the company in Europe. The company has earlier demonstrated the prototype VR headset called as SteamVR. We expect the UltraGear to be the final version based on the SteamVR. It might go official during the CES scheduled for January 2018.
Latest Update for Galaxy S8 & S8 Plus Brings October Security Patch
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus owners are now receiving a new OTA update with 479MB size. Apart from the bug fixes and minor improvements, the update also brings the September security patch. Once the installed, the firmware of the device will be updated to G955FXXU1AQI9. To manually check for the new update, open the settings app and tap on the software update option. It should be rolled out for all the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus users in the next couple of days.
HTC U11 Life – First Android One Smartphone with Oreo On-board
HTC is expected to launch HTC U11 Plus and U11 Life smartphones on November 2nd in China. Globally, the HTC U11 Life is rumored to be launched as Android One device and will be the first Android One smartphone to run on Android 8.0 Oreo. Unlike the U11 Plus, the U11 Life will be sporting 16:9 display with thick bezels. There will be 16MP sensors on the front and rear of the device. It is mentioned to cost EUR 400 and will be available in Sapphire Blue and Ice White color options.
2–3 Million iPhone X Units to be Available for Launch – Report
Apple iPhone X pre-orders will begin from October 27th and the shipping date is announced is November 3rd. The device comes with all-screen on the front except the top notch that holds the TrueDepth camera setup. There few reports suggesting the company has been facing quite a few issues during the iPhone X production. The latest report mentions only 2–3 million units to be made available by the launch date. Looking at the sales of iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, we might see a huge demand for iPhone X.
Boomerang Email App Now Available on iOS
Boomerang is now available on iOS as a complete email app. It is currently in beta and is available for free. Though there are several third-party email apps, the Boomerang differentiates itself from the crowd with its several customizable features. There is also voice assistant for catching your voice commands. The users can add accounts from Gmail, G Suite, Office 365, Outlook.com, and Microsoft Exchange.
Here is the Smartphone with 18:9 Display & 12,000mAh Battery
The little-known smartphone brand from China, Doogee has unveiled the BL12000 Pro smartphone with a 6-inch display offering Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. It comes powered by Helio P23 SoC and is backed by a whopping 12,000mAh battery. There are four cameras on this device – 16MP + 16MP sensors on the rear and 16MP + 8MP sensors on the front.
Huawei VR 2 Launched with 3K Display & Surround Sound
Alongside the Mate 10 devices launch in China, Huawei also announced a new Huawei VR 2 headset. It comes with two LCD display offering 1600 x 1440 pixels resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. The Huawei VR 2 can be connected with both smartphone and computers. It also offers 3D surround sound, the price is 1,999 yuan.
