How To Erase & Factory Data Reset your Xiaomi Redmi Note 3

Xiaomi has recently launched a new smartphone, i.e., the Redmi Note 3 priced at Rs 9,999. The device comes powered by Snapdragon 650 SoC Hexa-Core processor clocked at 1.8 GHz. It comes with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB as its internal storage and can be expanded upto 32 GB using an external Micro SD Card. The device is powered by a 4050 mAh Li-Poly Battery and runs on Android Lollipop 5.1 and sports 16 MP rear camera with dual tone LED flash and 5 MP front camera. If you are using this device and would to switch to the flagship killer, i.e., the Mi 5 then always remember to factory reset your device before you resale it or give it to others for permanent use. As factory resetting will format the data on your device and makes the device fresh for the use. There are two ways in which you can factory reset your device, i.e., Soft Reset and Hard Reset.

Soft Reset:

This is the general and the basic format where you need to restart your device in case you got stuck while using any of the applications on your device. This is just a normal reboot where all the running applications are closed and cached memory and RAM are cleared on the device.

Hard Reset:

In this method along with the Cache Memory, the complete phone is formatted where the data on your device is completely erased. To use this method in resetting your device, you can follow the below-mentioned steps.

Step 1: Open the Settings and tap on the Additional Settings which is just below the child Mode option.

Step 2: In the new window, you will find a bunch of options where you need to tap on the Backup & Reset option which is present at the bottom of the screen just above the Mi Mover Option.

Step 3: In the Backup & reset window, you will find three sections, i.e., Backup, Google Backup & reset and personal Data. In the personal Data section, tap on the Factory Data Reset.

Step 4: Further, you will need to toggle the button adjacent to Erase stored Content and then click on the Reset Phone button which is at the bottom of the screen.

Step 5: If you have set any password on your device, then you need to enter the password to proceed further.

Step 6: Once you enter the password on your device, a final confirmation stating this process and cannot be reversed is displayed. Now tap on Erase Everything to proceed further.

The device restarts and all the data is erased on your device. Once the data is cleared, the device re-boots again as if you are booting the device for the first time and fresh for use again.

Note:
Before you Factory Data reset your device, make sure that you create the backup of the data available on your device as factory data resetting is an irreversible process and data once deleted cannot be retrieved back.
