In May last year, Honor launched the high-end Honor V8 smartphone in China. Now in 2017, the company is getting ready to bring its successor, Honore V9 to the market. According to the teaser released today, the Honor V9 will be officially launched at an event scheduled for February 21st in Beijing, China. Since the event happens a week ahead of MWC 2017, we expect the company to showcase this device at the event. As seen with its predecessor, the upcoming Honor V9 will also come with dual lens camera. While there is no official confirmation over the design and specification, the Honor V9 with the model number DUK-TL30 recently got certified by TENAA.
The device comes with a premium specifications and sports an all-metal unibody design. Unlike the Honor 8, the Honor V9 comes with a protruding dual lens rear camera. As seen with most of the Huawei and Honor devices, the upcoming device also features the Honor branding on front and back. The circular fingerprint sensor is placed on the rear of the device. The Volume rocker and the textured power button are placed on the right edge of the device, where the hybrid SIM card slot can be found on the left edge. It runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with the EMUI 5.0 skin laid on top.
On the front is a 5.7-inch display with Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. Last year’s Honor V8 came in two variants sporting the same 5.7-inch display but comes in Full HD and Quad HD resolutions. Under the hood is an octa-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz, we expect this to be the latest Kirin 955 SoC. It also packs 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. We might also see a 4GB RAM variant with lesser storage options. The dual lens camera on this device includes two 12MP sensors along with dual tone LED flash and hybrid laser autofocus. For selfies, there is an 8MP camera on the front.
With all these powerful specifications, the device is backed by a 3,900mAh battery and might support fast charging with the Huawei’s SuperCharge technology. It measures 157 × 77.5 × 6.97 mm and weighs 184 grams. The device supports dual SIM dual standby using the hybrid SIM slot where the user can opt for a secondary SIM or a MicroSD card. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS, A-GPS, 3.5mm Audio port, and USB Type-C port. The device also supports Huawei Pay mobile payment service which is only limited China.
Recently, the company launched the Honor 8 Lite with a single 12MP sensor on the back. With the glass body, the Honor 8 Lite design looks similar to the Honor 8. It sports 5.2-inch Full HD display and is powered by Kirin 655 octa-core processor. The device includes 3GB of RAM and just 16GB of internal storage. The Honor 8 Lite is also the first Honor smartphone to run on the Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more updates!
