Honor V8 with 12MP Dual Rear Cameras & Kirin 950 SoC Launched

Honor has launched its first smartphone in its new V series called as Honor V8. It is the second smartphone from the brand after Honor 6 Plus to offer dual rear camera setup. Recently its parent company Huawei also launched the Huawei P9 and Huawei P9 Plus with Leica branded dual rear cameras. It comes with an all metal body featuring flagship specifications. The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box with latest EMUI 4.1 UI laid on top.

The device comes in two variants sporting a 5.7-inch display with Full HD (1920x 1080 pixels) and Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolutions. This is also the first time that an Honor smartphone is launching with a Quad HD display. Under the hood, the Honor V8 comes powered by the Kirin 950 octa-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz along with Mali-T880 GPU. It comes with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and includes 32GB/64GB as internal storage.

There is also a MicroSD card slot for expanding the storage upto 128GB. Both the rear cameras on this device comes with 12MP resolution with f/2.2 aperture, laser autofocus, and dual LED flash. For selfies, there is also an 8MP camera with a f/2.4 aperture on the front. The fingerprint sensor placed on the rear can also be used to capture images and access notification panel. It is backed by a 3,500mAh non-removable battery that also supports fast charging with the provided 9V/2A power adapter.

It is rated to deliver 25.5 hours of talk time and lasts up to 479.5 hours on standby. The Honor V8 includes dual SIM card slots and supports 4G+ and VoLTE. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, NFC, GPS/A-GPS, USB Type-C port along with 4G LTE. It supports company’s own virtual payment system “Huawei Pay.” All the three variants will be available in Glacier Silver, Rose Gold, Champagne Gold, and Platinum colors.

The device measures 157 x 77.60 x 7.75 mm and weighs 170 grams. Coming to the pricing, the Honor V8 with Full HD display and 32GB storage is priced at 2499 Yuan for NFC included variant and 2299 Yuan for the device without NFC. The high-end variant with Quad HD display and 64GB storage is priced at 2799 Yuan. The device will be available for registrations starting from today and sales starts from May 17th.
