Honor Confirms to Launch its First 5G Smartphone in Q4 2019

Earlier this year, Huawei announced the world’s first 5G foldable smartphone called Mate X. The company is already selling the Mate 20 X 5G smartphone in Europe. On the other hand, it’s online exclusive sub-brand Honor had earlier hinted to launch its first 5G smartphone in the second half of 2019. Now, the company’s president George Zhao has officially confirmed to launch the Honor 5G Smartphone in Q4 2019.
Unlike the Huawei-branded 5G smartphones, the Honor 5G smartphone will come with an aggressive price tag. While there is no official confirmation, we expect the upcoming Honor Magic 3 to be the first ever Honor 5G smartphone. With the company’s expertise in the various fields including 5G, AI, and photography, Honor is confident to launch a perfect 5G smartphone by the end of this year.
According to him, Honor is also betting big on the foreign markets. The company wants to increase its overseas earnings by over 50% of the company’s total revenue. Recently, OPPO and Xiaomi showcased smartphones with the all-new under-display camera technology. Honor which is the first smartphone brand to launch a smartphone with the punch-hole display is also said to be working on this new camera technology.
Next week, the company will be launching the Honor 20 flagship smartphones in the Indian market. Both the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro come with a 6.26-inch punch-hole display with Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 91.6% screen to body ratio. Under the hood, the devices come powered by the 7nm HiSilicon Kirin 980 octa-core processor. While the Honor 20 comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, the Honor 20 Pro is equipped with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
For selfies, the Honor 20 smartphones come with a 32MP front-facing selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. On the rear, the Honor 20 sports 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a 16MP super-wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture, a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture, and a 2MP macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture. Coming to quad camera setup on the Honor 20 Pro, the 48MP primary sensor comes with OIS and f/1.4 aperture and the depth sensor is replaced with an 8MP telephoto sensor with OIS and f/2.4 aperture.
