Update: A few days back, we had published a few specifications of the upcoming Gionee Elife S8. Today, we got much more information as the device is now listed on GFXbench. The company has already announced the device to be officially unveiled at the MWC 2016 on February 21st. The company has already confirmed the device to sport a pressure sensitive display.
The device will be powered by MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor along with 4GB of RAM. There will be 64GB of internal storage out of which only 53GB is available to the end user. The listing shows the device to sport a 4.6-inch display with Full HD resolution, but we cannot 100% rely on this data as it showed wrong screen size quite a few times.
It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with latest Amigo UI laid on top. The company particularly mentioned about the camera experience of this device at the launch date announcement. Now the listing reveals, the device to sport a 16MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. If the information from the listing is to be believed, then the front camera on this device is capable of recording 4K videos.
The official launch of Gionee Elife S8 is just ten days away, so stay tuned for the live coverage of the launch from Mobile World Congress 2016.
Earlier: Feb 2, 2015 – Last week Gionee has officially announced the launch of its upcoming premium smartphone Gionee Elife E8 at the Mobile World Congress 2016 that will be held later this month. The company also mentioned a couple of features of the device where it had mentioned the Elife S8 to offer ‘new era of mobile photography’ and pressure sensitive display.
The ZTE Axon Mini and Huawei Mate S are already launched with the same pressure sensitive display, but there are no related apps that make us of this new technology while on the other hand, almost all the major apps are updated with the 3D Touch shortcuts. Talking about the Gionee Elife S8, the company hasn’t mentioned any other details regarding the device.
Today a new Gionee device with the model number GN9011 is listed on GeekBench which we strongly believe it to be the upcoming Elife S8 that will be unveiled at the MWC 2016. According to the listing, it comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box, and there will be customized Amigo UI overlaid. It will be powered by the MediaTek MT6755 (Helio P10) octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz.
Though we expect it to be powered by Snapdragon processor, we aren’t surprised since all the earlier launched device under Elife S series came with MediaTek processors. The MediaTek chipset is accompanied with 4GB of RAM. The device has managed to score 1079 on single-core and 4511 on multi-core, which aren’t bad considering the Helio P10 SoC.
