In early April 2015, Gionee has unveiled the Elife S7 smartphone as the successor of the Elife S 5.5 and Elife S5.1 that are known for their extreme slimness. While the Elife S5.5 and S5.1 came with a thickness of just 5.5mm and 5.1mm respectively, the Elife S7 also felt slim by measuring 5.5mm. Now the company has officially announced the unveiling of the next-gen smartphone under the Elife S series called as Elife S8 at the MWC 2016 that will be held from February 22-25 in Barcelona, Spain. Gionee has spilled few details of the device by posting as,

“A new era of mobile photography has arrived and we welcome our consumers to explore this era together with joy in their hearts. We believe technology is part of our lives and we enjoy the convenience and creativity it brings.

At MWC 2016, GIONEE will introduce a new member to its S series – the S8, an innovative mobile device that comes with hassle-free photo-shooting features and a pressure-sensitive display.”

The mobile photography has been something that the company is more focused by launching Elife S7. Now the same will be continued to the Elife S8 and additionally the device will also feature a pressure sensitive display that was already seen on Android-powered ZTE Axon Mini and Huawei Mate S.

Apple has introduced 3D Touch on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus that works same as the pressure sensitive display. Though not many apps have been using this new touch technology on Android PlayStore and on the other hand, the iOS app store is filled with apps supporting 3D Touch.

As more and more devices come with pressure sensitive display, we can also expect developers to make use of this new technology onto their apps. Talking about the Elife S8, there are no any other details mentioned about the devices. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming days, as the MWC 2016 is less than a month away.

Update: Gionee S8 with Force Touch AMOLED display is launched at MWC 2016 at a price tag of Euro 499. Head over to launch article to know more.
