Earlier this year, HTC is rumored to launch two new Nexus devices codenamed Sailfish and Marlin. Later leaks hinted Google to stop the Nexus series, and upcoming devices are said to be launched as Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. Even we got the first look of the devices from several leaks along with few important specifications. Just Pixel C tablet, there will be no manufacturer branding on both the smartphones. Now the Global Certification Forum (GCF) listing revealed two variants of each device.

Both the Google Pixel and Pixel XL will be available in International and US variants. The Google Pixel will be launched with the model numbers G-2PW2100 and G-2PW2200 and the Pixel XL comes with G-2PW4100 and G-2PW4200 model numbers. Out of these four, the devices with the model numbers G-2PW2100 and the G-2PW4100 are recently passed through FCC which will the variants that will be sold in the U.S.

The GCF listing also mentioned that all the four devices are manufactured by HTC. If the rumored are to be believed, the upcoming tablet from Google will be coming from Huawei, which is the first ever Chinese manufacturer to manufacturer a Nexus device. Last year, the company launched the Nexus 6P whereas the Nexus 5X was manufactured by LG. Coming to the GCF listings, the device will support 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE network bands.

Normally the Nexus devices will be the first smartphones to run the latest Android out of the box. This year, LG launched the LG V20 as the first smartphone to run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. The leaks suggest the Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones to run on updated Android 7.1 Nougat. Both the Google Pixel smartphones might feature Snapdragon 820/821 processor. The Google Pixel might feature 5-inch Full HD display whereas the Pixel XL will sport 5.5-inch Quad HD display.

The USB Type-C port and fingerprint sensor will be common between both the devices. The Pixel and Pixel XL will also feature the same 4GB of RAM and will be sold in different storage variants. Now the Touch Screen Digitizer Glass Assembly for both Google Pixel (Nexus Sailfish S1) and Google Pixel XL (Nexus Marlin M1) are available in stock on eBay.

Sad. So sad. HTC isn’t a competent manufacturer.

I feel like HTC knows it is slowly falling off, and this Pixel business might soften the blow. Maybe even be profitable for them. It always helps to be in the good graces of Google.

I think HTC will be a noose around Google’s neck. HTC won’t want to produce a fully good product and will fight Google at every turn. Probably what happened with the Nexus 9.

  • Awesome! I hope HTC don’t disappoint Google and everyone who is looking forward to great Pixel devices.. 🙂
