Garmin has been a key player in the Wearable segment and we have already seen the company launching several fitness trackers and smartwatches. Now, the company has ventured into the luxury smartwatches by launching five new smartphones under the new MARQ series. The new Garmin MARQ smartwatches will be costing between USD 1,500 (approx INR 1,03,900) and USD 2,500 (approx INR 1,73,000).

The company is targetting a specific niche with these five MARQ luxury smartwatches – MARQ Athlete, MARQ Expedition, MARQ Captain, MARQ Aviator, & MARQ Driver. However, all these smartwatches come with Titanium casing with Sapphire crystal glass. They also come loaded with Garmin’s smart features along with built-in music storage for offline playback.

In terms of battery life, the MARQ series smartwatches will last around 12 days in smartwatch mode, up to 28 hours in GPS Mode and up to 48 hours in UltraTrac mode. These smartwatches are also compatible with Garmin’s QuickFit system for quickly switching the bands. The company is also adding an optical heart rate sensor and a wrist-based pulse oximeter for activity tracking.

The MARQ Driver with a price tag of USD 2,500 is the costliest smartwatch among five. As the name suggests, the MARQ Driver is targeting the racers and comes loaded with 250 global racetracks. It comes with a hybrid bracelet featuring titanium on the outside and soft silicone inside. The track timer on this smartwatch works with the tachymeter bezel to automatically calculate the average speed of a car on the course.

The USD 1,950 priced MARQ Aviator for specifically designed for the pilots. It comes preloaded with a worldwide aviation database including airport locations, navigational aids, and radio frequencies. There is also an emergency access button to quickly activates a path to the nearest airport. The information from NEXRAD weather radar can be displayed on this smartwatch.  It features a swept-wing titanium bracelet with a security clasp.

The third one in the list is the MARQ Captain priced at USD 1,850 which is designed for sailors. It sports a 46 mm polished-navy ceramic bezel with a unique tricolor jacquard-weave nylon strap. The specially designed watch face displays the current weather conditions like wind speed, temperature, and tide information. It also got a ‘man overboard’ button to confirm the person presence overboard.

The MARQ series also offers a smartwatch designed for hikers – Garmin MARQ Expedition. It is priced at USD 1,750 and comes with the premium Italian vacchetta leather strap. Along with the standard smartwatch features, it also comes loaded with topographic maps and shows real-time ascent data. The Pulse Ox sensor on this smartwatch monitors blood oxygen saturation levels. It features built-in ABC navigation sensors and an etched 360-degree compass bezel.

The Garmin MARQ Athlete priced at USD 1,500 is the last and most affordable option in the luxury MARQ lineup. Unlike other MARQ smartwatches, this variant comes with a rubber strap. The MARQ Athlete can show recovery time and VO2 max scales on the bezel. While each MARQ smartwatch is designed with a specific purpose, it could have been better if the company has added these software features under different modes to choose to from.
