The scheme is called Samajwadi Smart Phone Yojana, under which the distribution of smartphones would begin in the second half of next year. It is the time during which assembly polls would be over. The announcement is seen as a proclamation freebie since it is being lined with election polls.

Whatever may be the reasons, if people of the country is receiving such facilities then it is advantageous for the digital growth. We aren’t here to discuss the politics, but about the technology. Talking about it, the smartphones would be equipped with the latest technology and thus offer decent smartphone experience. We don’t expect the devices to be fancy, but at least useable in many sense.

According to the statement issued, these mobile handsets would be provided to individuals who are 18 years or more of age as on January 1st, 2017. Moreover, the criteria are that no family member should be in government service.

CM expressed in a statement that his government started the world’s biggest free laptop scheme for Class 12th pass outs, which is said to be the game-changing idea as they truly ushered in a digital democracy.

Further, it was noted that the device would be equipped with a set of apps that would be quite resourceful to users. Such as there would be an app providing information regarding government’s latest schemes and how residents can make use of the schemes. It will enable the government to interact with masses.

Interestingly, there would be apps to support farmers get information about the weather as well as learn about crop prices. While the youths can apply for government jobs using the smartphone given by them. The students are all said to receive study materials in audiovisual formats.
