Flagship Redmi K20 Smartphone with Snapdragon 855 SoC Confirmed to Launch in India

Xiaomi recently confirmed to launch the flagship Redmi smartphones under the new K-series. It will reportedly come up with not one but two flagship smartphones – Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro. Today, Xiaomi India’s MD Manu Kumar Jain has officially confirmed to introduce the Redmi K20 series in the Indian market. The device will be powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform. Currently, the newly launched OnePlus 7 priced at Rs 32,999 is the most affordable Snapdragon 855-powered smartphone in India.

As of now, the company hasn’t revealed any other details about its new flagship smartphone. However, the recent promo video confirmed the device to sport true bezel-less display. The Redmi K20 will also be the first Xiaomi smartphone to launch with a pop-up camera. Earlier to this, the company offered fullscreen experience with the Mi MIX 3 smartphone which came with a slider mechanism. Just like other affordable Redmi smartphone, the flagship Redmi K20 will also sport 3.5mm audio jack for connecting standard earphones and headphones.

Even though the device comes with flagship hardware, the UI might still be filled up with Ads. It will be running on MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 Pie. Xiaomi also mentioned the Redmi K20 to support Android Q Beta 3 update out of the box. It will also support NFC for using the Mi Pay in the Chinese market. While the Redmi K20 comes in 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB storage options, the Redmi K20 Pro will be available in 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB storage options.

The flagship Redmi smartphones will be available in Carbon Fiber Black, Glacier Blue, and Flame Red color options with gradient finish. As per the leaks, the Redmi K20 devices will be offering triple camera set up on the rear with a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 16MP telephoto sensor. For selfies, the device will be equipped with a 32MP pop-up camera. It will be also come with an in-display fingerprint scanner on the front.
