First Smartphone Explosion of 2018 Reported at Apple Store in Zurich

The smartphone nowadays can be used in lot many ways than the regular communication device. It replaces your camera, wallet, TVs, and many more. With all these functionalities, we can’t even go outside without a mobile device. In the recent times, the smartphone manufacturers are offering bigger capacity batteries to make the devices last longer. Most of the space inside your smartphone will be taken up the battery.

While playing with batteries is a danger game, the manufacturers do a lot of testing before launching any product. However, mistakes happen a few times and the 2016’s Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is one good example. However, we regularly see incidents about the smartphone battery malfunctions around the globe. There are several Apple iPhones exploded in the past, and the most recent incident took place at an Apple store in Zurich.

According to the report, an iPhone was exploded when it is being repaired by the authorized employee at an Apple store in Bahnhofstrasse, Zurich. With the sudden explosion, the customers and staff are evacuated from the story. According to the Swiss police, the employee who is repairing the device got his hand slightly burned in the incident. Even seven customers inside the store are said to have received medical attention.

The Zurich fire servicemen came to the rescue and covered the exploded battery with sand. According to police, forensic specialists from the Zurich Forensic Institute were examining the cause of this explosion. As of now, we don’t have any information about the model of iPhone involved in the explosion. We are yet to receive the official statement from the company about this incident.

Apple recently cut down the battery replacement cost from $79 to $29 after intentionally slowing down the older iPhones. In the past couple of years, we have seen several smartphone explosions around the globe. We suggest you to use the company authorized power adapters and cables for charging your smartphone.
