If you thought the controversy of the century, the $4 or Rs 251 smartphone is over, well, you were wrong. There is now an FIR lodged against the Ringing Bells founder, Mohit Goel, the Managing Director and Ashok Chaddha, the President of the company under Section 420 of IPC and 66 IT Act. This complaint was lodged by the BJP MP (Member of Parliament) and a member of parliamentary committee for advertising and raising fund from public with phase three police station in Noida.

According to TOI, which has got the copy of the FIR says, the name Amit Goyal and Ashok Chaddha, but if you have been following the stories about the Freedom 251 smartphone, then you would know that Managing Director’s name is Mohit Goel. If the FIR has been lodged with this name, assuming the copy TOI got is correct, then it might not be valid. Further talking about the complaint, Superintendent of Police (SP), Dinesh Yadav, has confirmed that an FIR has been lodged against the company and that they have started to investigate the company officials.

Kirit Somaiya, the BJP MP, who has filed this complaint took this to his Twitter handle, where he posted a complaint, although, only a few details can be confirmed from these images since they are not high resolution. In the complaint, Mr Somaiya has demanded to freeze the account, in which company has collected millions of rupees, and to collect the data of buyers so that refund can be initiated for them. Also, ensure that the money should not be transferred to anyone else’s account.
