Last week, Honor launched the Honor 8A Pro smartphone powered by MediaTek Helio P35 octa-core processor. Now, a new Honor smartphone called Honor 8S is leaked online. Considering the entry-level specification, the upcoming Honor 8S should also come with a cheaper price tag. It will be the successor to MediaTek MT6739-powered Honor 7S which was launched in India in September last year. From the above-featured image, we can confirm the Honor 8S to come with a polycarbonate body with a two-tone finish.
On the front, the device comes with a 2.5D curved glass laid on the top. It sports a 5.71-inch waterdrop notch display with HD+ (1520 x 720 pixels) resolution. Even with a thicker chin at the bottom, the Honor 8S might offer higher screen-to-body ratio in its price segment. Under the hood is the 64-bit MediaTek Helio A22 quad-core processor built on 12nm FinFET node. It sports 4x Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2.0GHz and comes coupled with PowerVR GE8320 GPU. Last year’s Xiaomi Redmi 6A priced at Rs 5,999 also used the same Helio A22 chipset.
The Honor 8S comes in 2GB and 3GB RAM variants with 32GB and 64GB of internal storage respectively. There is also a MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage. It runs on the latest Android 9.0-based EMUI 9.0 out of the box. Since the device runs on a non-Kirin chipset, it won’t get the support GPU Turbo. Also, we don’t expect the users to play graphic-intensive games on this device. Talking about the cameras, the Honor 8S comes with a 13MP singe camera on the rear with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera for selfies.
It is backed by a 3,020mAh non-removable battery and lacks any kind of fast charging support. While there is no fingerprint scanner, it should at least support face unlock. Both the power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge of the device. The device will be available in Black, Blue, and Gold color options. It comes with a MicroUSB port for charging and data transfer and measures 8.45 mm in thickness. While there is no info on the pricing or the availability of the device, it will be officially launching in the next couple of weeks in Europe.
Last year’s Honor 7S came with a 5.45-inch 18:9 FullView display with HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) resolution. It was initially launched as Honor Play 7 in China. Though the device came with the same 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera, the Honor 7S offered LED flash both on the front and rear. Just like Honor 8S, the Honor 7S also came with a 3,020mAh battery. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details about the upcoming Honor 8S smartphone!
