Xiaomi’s POCO (a.k.a POCOPHONE) has debuted the smartphone market by launching the POCO F1 smartphone yesterday in India. In the coming days, the same POCO F1 will be launched POCOPHONE F1 in selected European and Asian markets. The POCO F1 is touted as the world’s cheapest Snapdragon 845-powered smartphone. The device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI skin on top. Unlike other Xiaomi devices, the POCO F1 comes with “MIUI for POCO” skin.
While the majority of the UI looks same on both Xiaomi and POCO devices, there are little tweaks made to “MIUI for POCO” on POCO F1 smartphone. Firstly, the POCO devices will have an app drawer by default. The app drawer on “MIUI for POCO” can sort out the apps based on category and color of the app icon. There is also a search bar at the bottom and an option to hide apps. The default launcher on the POCO F1 also supports third-party icon packs.
Even the quick settings on the POCO F1 will look same as in the stock Android. While we always loved to see the app drawer on MIUI-powered smartphones, Xiaomi never offered it on any of its smartphones. However, the users of Xiaomi smartphones can now install the POCO Launcher from the POCO F1 on their device through an APK. Download the “POCO Launcher APK” from the above link and install on your smartphone. Also, note that the POCO Launcher APK will replace the default launcher on your Xiaomi device.
To revert back to the default MIUI launcher, go to settings > apps > system launcher and tap on uninstall updates. As of now, not all the functionalities of the POCO Launcher are available on this leaked APK. The company has officially announced to soon bring the beta version of the POCO Launcher via Play Store, but it has been already leaked online. We hope the official POCO Launcher APK will offer all the new features of the “MIUI for POCO” on MIUI-powered Xiaomi smartphones. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
