When a new brand in India begins selling its products, it seems the budget range is where it won’t want to miss out. After several brands recently launching budget devices with good specs, Coolpad today announced the Dazen 1, alongside its flagship Dazen X7 at an event in New Delhi. The Dazen 1 is priced at Rs. 6999, and it is going to be sold exclusively on Snapdeal from June 9th, although the registrations begin right away.
The budget smartphone comes with a 5-inch display with HD resolution, and has enough to compete with the current leaders in the budget segment. Under that display, is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, the quad-core chipset clocking at 1.2GHz, and has 2GB of RAM as well as 8GB internal storage. The second SIM slot acts as a MicroSD card slot for expanded storage.
The Dazen 1 has a 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and it is a Dual SIM smartphone with one SIM supporting 4G LTE connectivity. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat OS with Cool UI, a custom interface from the company, layered over to give the users a different user experience.
This will give a tough challenge to the Xiaomi Redmi 2, Lenovo A6000+, but will face the heat from Yu Yuphoria that has a better internal storage, though a little lesser battery capacity, as the Dazen 1 comes with a 2500 mAh battery packed in. Everything’s done right when it comes to specs, as the Snapdragon 410 is a 64-bit optimized chipset, and a good one for gaming and a good performance, as proved in the other smartphones powered by the same. But at the same time, how well will the interface keep it pacy and good, is what we’ll be finding out after using the smartphone for a considerable time.
Update, 16th June 2015: Dazen has reduced the price of Dazen 1 smartphone by Rs. 1000, and thus the phone is now available at Rs. 5999, instead of the Rs. 6999 launch price.
