Apple #1 in Chinese Smartphone Market Share followed by OPPO & Vivo Mobiles

The Chinese smartphone market share report for the month of October is here. Since the report is of offline sales, we cannot find Xiaomi anywhere in the list and Huawei can’t make its way into the top three positions. Apple with a market share of 13.6% tops the list while OPPO and Vivo are settled for second and third positions with the market shares of 11.2% and 10.5% respectively.

The reason behind Apple’s stronghold in the market is the steady sales of latest iPhones and price drops of older iPhones. This year Apple added China to their list of primary markets where the devices will be launched first. It had sold more than 13 million handsets in the first three days of the sale.

OPPO which is second in the list had launched three variants of the original R7 smartphone including the larger OPPO R7 Plus and a high-end OPPO R7s. The company’s focus on offline market is also the reason for being in the top three list. This is also the fourth consecutive month for OPPO being in the second position.

Vivo hasn’t launched any high-end devices but came up with few mid-range and entry-level devices. The company’s upcoming flagship Vivo X6 will be launched on November 30th. Considering the rumoured specifications, we believe the device to be one of the best flagship devices to launch in the next few weeks. Once it is launched, we can expect Vivo to increase its market share.

Huawei, the world’s third largest smartphone manufacturer in the Q2 2015 is limited to just fourth position and with a market share of 7.2%. While its sub-brand Honor being more focused on online sales had captured a whopping 5.2% market share. The company had also launched it’s latest flagship Honor 7 smartphone in China that we had reviewed few weeks back.

Samsung and Lenovo are limited to fifth and sixth positions with 7.2% and 5.2% market shares respectively. Samsung is more aggressive in the recent times by launching Galaxy On5 and On7 along with Galaxy J5 and J7 in China. While the company had good sales of its high-end Galaxy S series and Galaxy Note series, it had lost its battle with other Chinese manufacturers in entry-level and mid-range segments.

There are few interesting launched like Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Mi Pad 2, Mi 5, Huawei Mate 8, Vivo X6 and few other devices in the next few weeks, we can see some ups and downs in the list. Stay tuned for more updates!
