BlackBerry has been quite aggressive with their smartphone launches lately. Recently, the company launched the new KeyOne smartphone, which was rather well received in the market, at least compared to their other offerings. However, now, it looks like the company is all set to launch a new device and this time around, it is expected that we will be getting something different from the company.
Apparently, TCL, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer who is manufacturing the hardware for BlackBerry, has revealed to the source that the company is planning on launching a new smartphone. This new smartphone will be launched under the BlackBerry brand and it looks like it will land somewhere around the month of October. While not a lot is known about this alleged new smartphone, the source did manage to pull out a few useful info.
Firstly, it has been reported that this smartphone will have no physical keyboard. This means that it will be a touchscreen offering just like some of the previously launched smartphones like DTek50 & DTek60, etc. Yes, this is not really surprising right. However, it has also been reported that the smartphone will come with IP67 certification for water and dust-proofing. Well, if you have used some of the Samsung offerings like Galaxy S8, etc. then this certainly might not be as appealing, however, this is first of its kind for BlackBerry.
One of the TCL’s official said that they believe this new smartphone will stand out in the market. He also believes that this offering is planned to lure people away from the typical Samsung and Apple‘s offerings. Apart from being IP67 certified, he also revealed that this smartphone will have a huge battery which is rated to last for more than 26 hours of mixed use. With this, it certainly looks like BlackBerry is going for durability and longevity as their unique selling point.
And on top of all this, this new device is again expected to bring in all the new security features with it as well. Remember the DTEK 50 smartphone? It was said to be the most secure smartphone and it looks like this new one will also be on the same lines. However, as far as the specs of this smartphone are concerned, there is not a lot of info available. But some of the previous rumors say that this could be a mid-ranged offering powered by a Snapdragon 626 processor. If this is true, then it would be a hard sell to make people switch from Galaxy and iPhones. With that said, we would like to know your thoughts on this.
