Here are the few devices that will be launched in the month of February 2016. Normally we have at least some sort of information about the upcoming devices, and since the MWC 2016 is also scheduled to be held from February 22-25, we can see some big launches in the month of February. While few of the manufacturers has already the confirmed launch of the device in the month of February, there are few other smartphones from global brands we also expect to be unveiled in this same month.


Xiaomi Mi 5 - Gold

Xiaomi has seen some downtrend after it failed to achieve its target of selling 80-100 million units for the year of 2015 and the revenue from its internet services is only limited to $564 million while the internal target for the year of 2015 is said to be around $1 billion. The company is now expecting its upcoming flagship Xiaomi Mi 5 to stay competitive against the likes of the Huawei and LeEco smartphones apart from Global brands like Samsung and Apple. The company official has confirmed the launch date of Xiaomi Mi5 on February 24th, and the event will be held in China, and some rumors also suggest the company to showcase the device at MWC 2016.

The device will be powered by Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor and sports a physical home button on the front that also houses the fingerprint sensor. It is expected to launch in the colors – pink, gold, white, and black options. The device supports dual SIM dual standby and supports NFC connectivity. It is said to be launched in a total of four variants featuring metal and glass body with differences in RAM and storage capacities.

The Metal variants of Mi 5 comes in two variants with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage while the other variant includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. These two variants sports 1080p resolution display and rumored to be priced at 2199 Yuan and 2599 Yuan for the 3GB variant and 4GB variant respectively. The premium variants of Mi 5 with glossy back are rumored to come with Quad HD display and 4GB of RAM. These models are priced at 2799 Yuan and 3099 Yuan for 32GB and 64GB variant respectively.

The company on its blog post has confirmed the launch of Gionee Elife S8 at the MWC 2016. It will be the successor for the Elife S7 that was launched in April 2015. According to the company, the device will bring a new ear of mobile photography and is also said to sport a pressure sensitive display that works almost same as 3D Touch on iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Even before to the Apple, ZTE and Huawei had launched the Axon Mini and Mate S with the same pressure sensitive displays.

There is no much information known about the upcoming device till date and we can expect some leaks in the coming days as MWC 2016 is less than a month away. As seen with the earlier Elife S series device, the Elife S8 might also sport a slim body. The Elife S7 came with a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP camera. It also measured just 5.5mm thickness and weighs around 126.5 grams.

Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge

Recently we have got some glimpse about the upcoming Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, all thanks to the leaks. There are no major differences in terms of design when compared to the last years Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Unlike the earlier launched Galaxy S devices, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge comes with MicroSD card slot for expanding the storage up to 200GB and will also be compatible with IP67 certifications making both the devices dust and water resistant.

The Galaxy S7 will sport a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display, and S7 Edge comes with a 5.5-inch curved display, both the displays are of Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. It will be powered by either Exynos 8 Octa 8890 SoC or the Snapdragon 820 SoC; its all depends on the specific market allocations. There will be 4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storages. In the camera department, we can see a 12MP rear camera with F/1.7 aperture that can capture better photos in low-light conditions.

Though there is no confirmation about the launch of LG G5 at the MWC 2016, we are a little confident that the device will be unveiled at the same stage of company’s press conference on 21st of January. There are quite a few rumors about the from the last couple of months suggesting the device to come with a new design where the volume rockers will be shifted from the rear to the left side edge of the device. The removable battery on the LG G4 will be continued on to this device and under the hood, it comes powered by the latest Snapdragon 820 SoC.

If the rumored details are to be believed, it comes with a dual 16MP & 8MP rear camera setup with laser autofocus and just below the that we can also find a fingerprint sensor. The normal MicroUSB 2.0 port will be replaced by the USB Type-C port that offers faster data speeds. On the front, we expect a 5.6-inch Quad HD display along with an 8MP front camera. It might come with 4GB of RAM, and possible storage options are 32GB, 64GB, and also 128GB.

LeEco Le Max Pro is the first ever smartphone to be announced with a Snapdragon 820 SoC. The company has showcased the device at the CES 2016 that was held in January in LasVegas, Nevada. The 6.33-inch device comes with a Quad HD resolution with a pixel density of 464 ppi. Even with a such a large screen size, the thin bezels makes the device measures same as the most 6-inch devices. This is also the first device to make use of the Qualcomm’s Sense ID UltraSonic fingerprint technology which doesn’t need direct contact of the finger with the sensor.

The 2.2GHz Snapdragon 820 processor is accompanied by 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and offers 32GB/64GB/128GB of internal storage. It is backed by a 3,400mAh non-removable battery and supports Quick Charging by the help of USB type-C port. It has a 21MP rear camera with OIS and a 4MP Ultra Pixel camera on the front. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with customized EUI. The dual SIM device offers 4G LTE and other basic connectivity features including Wi-Fi 802.11 ad support. At the MWC 2016, we expect the LeEco to announce the launch of this device in selected markets.
