Xiaomi Redmi 4 – Rs. 6,999
Xiaomi launched the Redmi 4 as the successor to the last year’s best-selling entry-level smartphones, Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime. The new Redmi 4 comes with a complete metal body and runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow based MIUI 8. It comes in three different storage variants – 2GB + 16GB, 3GB + 32GB, and 4GB + 64GB and pricing starts from just Rs. 6,999. While these Redmi devices offer the best value for money, the availability is the biggest issue. It sports a 5-inch HD display with a 2.5D glass laid on top. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. All three variants come with a fingerprint sensor placed on the rear. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Redmi 4 features a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Nubia lacks the same brand recognition as the Xiaomi or Honor smartphones. Though the company had launched quite a few smartphones with every aggressive pricing, they never gave tough competition to the other Chinese brands. A few weeks back, the company launched the Nubia N1 Lite smartphone with the entry-level specification. It comes with a price tag of Rs. 6,999 and is exclusively sold through Amazon India. Compared to the other smartphone at the similar bracket, the Nubia N1 Lite comes with a bigger 5.5-inch display with the same HD resolution. It packs MediaTek MTK6737 quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. There is an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera for selfies and video calls. It is backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery that should give a day-long battery life. Connectivity options on the Nubia N1 Lite include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and MicroUSB 2.0 port. On the rear of the polycarbonate body, we can find the circular fingerprint sensor that is said to unlock the device in just 0.3 seconds.
Lava A77 – Rs. 6,099
The budget-centric Lava A77 comes with minimal specifications and is priced at Rs. 6,099. It packs a smaller 4.5-inch TN display with WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) resolution. Under the hood is an unspecified quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz that comes coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. There is also a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion up to another 32GB. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and included pre-installed bloatware apps. In the camera department, the Lava A77 packs a 5MP camera on the rear and another 5MP camera on the front for selfies and video calls. Both the cameras come accompanied with LED flash. The device offers 4G VoLTE support and includes all the other basic connectivity options. It is powered by a 2,000mAh removable battery that might not last more than a day of moderate usage. Beneath the display are the three capacitive buttons for multitasking, home, and back (left to right). The volume rocker and power button are placed on the right edge of the device.
Samsung Z4 – Rs. 5,790
Samsung launched its latest Tizen powered smartphone called Samsung Z4 as the successor to the last year’s Samsung Z2. Unlike the above mentioned devices, the Samsung Z4 runs on the in-house Tizen 3.0 OS. Though the Tizen app store is very small in size when compared to Google’s Play Store, you get all the basic apps including Jio suite of apps.It is dual SIM device and offers 4G VoLTE support for using with the Jio 4G SIM.
