After disrupting the Sub-Rs. 10,000 price segment, the Chinese smartphone manufacturers are now more focusing at a slightly higher price bracket. We have a few devices launched in the month of May and interestingly, most of the devices are also sold through the offline market. All the below-mentioned devices support 4G VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and can be used with the Jio 4G SIM.
Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime – Rs. 16,900
From the last few weeks, we have been seeing the leaks about the upcoming Galaxy J7 2017 and Galaxy J5 2017 smartphones. However, Samsung India launched the 32GB storage variants of the last year’s Galaxy J7 Prime and Galaxy J5 Prime. Apart from the doubled storage, there is no other difference between the 16GB and new 32GB storage variants. The new Galaxy J7 Prime is priced at Rs. 16,900 and comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display. It is powered by the in-house Exynos 7870 octa-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz and includes 3GB of RAM. It supports dual SIM dual standby and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the TouchWiz UI laid on top. It sports a 13MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and a LED flash. For selfies, the Galaxy J7 Prime comes equipped with an 8MP front facing camera. It is backed by a 3,300mAh non-removable and lacks the fast charging support. Apart from the bloatware apps, the company is also adding the exclusive features like S Power Planning, Ultra Data Saving (UDS) mode, and S Bike.
Vivo V5S – Rs. 18,990
Vivo V5S is the latest smartphone from one of the fastest-growing smartphone brands, Vivo. Apart from minor changes, the Vivo V5S is the same Vivo V5 that was launched earlier this year. It is priced at Rs. 18,990 and comes in Crown Gold and Matte Black color options. The new V5S comes with 64GB of onboard storage which is doubled than the what offered with the Vivo V5. It comes with a 5.5-inch HD display and is powered by MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor. The 4GB of RAM on this device should handle most of the usage and even the graphic intensive games. On the front of this device is a 20MP selfie camera with a f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. The primary camera on the rear sports a 13MP sensor with PDAF and LED flash. The company is also offering AK4376 audio chip for Hi-Fi audio output. The device supports dual SIM dual standby using the hybrid SIM slot where the user can opt for a MicroSD card instead of the secondary SIM. It measures 153.8 x 75.5 x 7.55 mm and weighs 154 grams.
OPPO F3 Black Limited Edition – Rs. 19,900
After launching the OPPO F3 with dual front cameras, the company recently launched the limited edition Black color variant. It is currently retailing at Rs 19,900 and comes with same specifications as on the regular variant. The device will be made available on June 4th via Flipkart and OPPO retail stores. It sports metal built unibody design and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based ColorOS 3.0. Just like the OPPO F3 Plus, the OPPO F3 also sports dual camera setup on the front featuring 16MP primary sensor and an 8MP wide-angle sensor. On the rear is a 13MP autofocus camera with PDAF and LED flash. It sports a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. Under the hood is the MediaTek MT6750T6 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and comes coupled with Mali-T860 GPU and 4GB of RAM. It has 64GB of onboard storage that can be expanded up to 128GB. The 3200mAh non-removable battery keeps the device powered on and it includes the in-house VOOC flash charge support.
Gionee A1 – Rs. 19,999
As teased earlier, Gionee launched the camera-centric Gionee A1 and A1 Plus smartphones at the MWC 2017. In less than a month after announcing the device, the Chinese company launched the Gionee A1 smartphone in India for Rs. 19,999. The device is assembled in India under the ‘Make in India’ campaign. It comes with a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display offering Full HD resolution. Under the hood is the year’s old Helio P10 octa-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. Interestingly, the Gionee A1 runs on Amigo UI based on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Talking about the camera sensors on this device, there is a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 16MP front camera for selfies. Gionee is also offering LED flash for both the front and rear cameras. This is also the company’s first Gionee smartphone to feature front-facing home button with fingerprint sensor. With all these specifications, the device is kept powered on by a 4,010 non-removable battery.
Honor 8 Lite – Rs. 16,500
As we exclusively covered, Honor launched its latest mid-range smartphone called Honor 8 Lite last month in India. It is currently retailing around Rs. 16,000 and comes with a 2.5D curved glass on front and back of the device. Though the device looks similar to the Honor 8, it lacks the dual camera setup on the rear. It even comes with the same 5.2-inch Full HD display as on the Honor 8. It is powered by Kirin 655 SoC and packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Unlike the Honor 8, the Honor 8 Lite comes with 4G VoLTE support and can be used with Jio 4G SIM. On the camera front, there is a 12MP rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP fixed focus selfie camera. It runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat based EMUI 5.0. There is a 3,000mAh non-removable battery that should easily give a single day of mixed usage. The fingerprint sensor is placed on the rear of the device. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, USB OTG, 3.5mm Audio port, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. It measures 147.2 x 72.9 x 7.6 mm and weighs 147 grams.
