Best Mid-Range Smartphones of December 2015 above Rs 15,000



In the month of December, we have seen some good number of smartphone launches. While many of them are targeting the entry-level segment priced under Rs. 7000 , there are few devices priced in between Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 25,000 price range. These devices come with premium design and high-end specs that can even compete with flagship devices.

HTC Desire 828 – Rs. 19,990

HTC Desire 828, which we had exclusively reported about the possible launch is now officially announced in India. The device comes with polycarbonate body with rounded edges and slightly curve on the back that offers nice grip.  The has a 5.5-inch display with 1080p resolution and is powered by MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor along with 2GB of RAM. The front facing Boomsound speakers with Dolby Audio takes care of the sound output.

The 13MP rear camera comes with OIS and LED flash, and the company says it is first ever smartphone in Desire series to feature OIS. The 4MP Ultrapixel camera on the front takes care of the selfies. It also includes dual SIM dual standby support G LTE connectivity option. It is priced at Rs. 19,990 and is exclusively sold through Flipkart in Dark Grey and Pearl White color options.

The OnePlus in a surprise had the launched the Champagne edition of OnePlus X in the Indian market. Earlier to the Indian launch, the special edition device first went on sale in Hong Kong and selected European markets. It is priced at Rs. 16,699 which is same as the regular OnePlus X Onyx variant. Apart the all new Gold and White color, there is no other difference between the Champagne edition and the normal OnePlus X.

Wickedleak Wammy Note 5 – Rs. 16,990


India based Wickedleak has launched a new high-end smartphone Wickedleak Note 5 with powerful specs and affordable price tag. It is priced at Rs. 16,990 and comes powered by the new Helio P10 octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz along with 4GB of RAM. The dual SIM device comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS display and features a fingerprint sensor for securing the device.

The Wammy Note 5 is backed a 3,000mAh battery that can give at least a single day of usage. As of now the device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and is upgradeable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. On the connectivity front, it offers 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and USB Type-C Port. It will be available starting January 15th from company’s official website.

Asus Zenfone 2 Laser 6 – Rs. 17,999


In the early December, Asus came up with a new variant of Zenfone 2 laser with the model number ZE601KL. While this variant sports a 6-inch display, a couple of months back the company had launched the 5.5-inch Zenfone 2 Laser priced at Rs. 13,999. Talking about the latest 6-inch variant, it comes with a 1080p display with Gorilla Glass 4 protection.

Under the hood is the Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage. The 13MP rear camera comes with dual tone LED flash and laser autofocus and on the front is a 5MP selfie camera. A 3,000mAh battery keeps the device powered on and supports 4G LTE along with other basic connectivity options. It is priced at Rs. 17,999 and comes in the colors Red, Silver and Gold color options.

Oukitel K10000 – Rs. 16,000 (approx)

The Oukitel K10000 is the one of its kind of smartphone that packs a mammoth 10,000mAh battery. The company claims the battery to last for 10-15 days on normal usage and can be used to charge other devices via OTG cable. With the provided 9V/2A flash charger, the device can be fully charged in 3.5 hours. Apart from the battery, it comes with a 5.5-inch display and is powered by a MediaTek MT6735 quad-core processor.

There is 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage along with MicroSD card support. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and support dual SIM dual standby. Connectivity options on this device include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. It measures just 9 mm thickness and weighs 184 grams while the Marathon M5 with 6,020mAh battery weighs more than 200 grams. The K10000 is now available for pre-orders at $240 (approx Rs. 16,000), and the shipping begins from January 21st.

LG Zero (a.k.a LG Class) – Rs. 22,500 (approx)


A few months back, LG had launched he LG Class smartphone in Korea, Germany, Singapore and few other selected markets. Now the company has the launched the same device as LG Zero in other markets in Asia, Europe, and Latin America. The pricing the availability of the LG Zero hasn’t yet announced, the LG Class is launched at SKW 399,300 (approx Rs. 22,500).

Talking about the device, it comes with a metal body with basic specification inside it. The 5-inch device comes with an HD resolution display and is powered by a Snapdragon 410 SoC. It has 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a battery of 2,050mAh capacity. The only difference between both the device is the RAM capacity where the LG Class comes with 2GB of RAM. It has a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera.

YU Yutopia – Rs. 24,999

Many of you might think the inclusion of YU Yutopia in the mid-range segment will be unfair. So you can check out the list of best smartphones that are priced above  Rs. 25,000, but many of them still can’t match up with the YU Yutopia in terms of specifications.
